In my best Jeff Foxworthy "You may be a Redneck if....." voice. Your Chainsaw may be leaking bar oil if...... you take a picture and it looks like one of those artsy photos of a mountain reflected in a pristine lake.

It may seem like I'm piling it on but I'm just kidding around. I'm in a great mood after it seems to be fixed or fixable by me plus I got to say nipple like 3 times.

I really appreciate your taking the time and effort for this thread and photos. I just got a refurbished 435 which I suspect leaks, so I'll revisit your photos and comments if it does leak.

My 455 has never leaked in 3 years so I know leaking is not a given. Hate leaking anything.

My 455 never leaked and was a great saw. My 562 is behaving perfectly and both the MS 192TC and 570 I had were dry as an old ladies fart. That's why I went looking for answers on the 346.

Good luck and if it is leaking there you might try what komatsuvarna talked about with the washer.

Mine leaks from the exact same place. I used some ultra black silicone on it the first time, it fixed it for awhile. Last week i tore it back down, cleaned the silicone off, and put it back together with a little washer between the bar pad and the rubber output line on the oil pump. My thoughts were that the washer might take up some room and make the connections tighter. I havent had much time lately, so i dont know if it fixed it or not.

Mine started leaking again after my grease packin fix so I tried komatuvarna's suggestion and it seems to be a true fix. I placed a spacer about as thick as a dime where the green arrow is pointing. Like komatsuvarna said it seems to tighten it all up and stops the leak. Rep to komatsuvarna!!!

Ive already tried that by adding a carb plug over the hose, one from HR carb,and it continues to leak.I believe pressure buildup is more likely the problem and "cant be fixed" really.

I hope it works HiOctane. It seems to be holding well after 24 hours and a full oil tank after a 2-3 minute initial run time.

Well I discovered the other day mine still leaks some, but not like it did. May try putting an O-ring on the inside and outside of the connection points this time. Maybe it'll make it a little tighter......

I went through the same thing with a 357xp and it seams that there is a vent in the oil tank that the dealer replaced after the lines were replaced and it leaked again after the first repair. very good runup on the site of leaks or possible places to leak. bruce

Now, I do have a Harley that's 6 years old and it has no leaks whatsoever. :msp_tongue:

You are correct in checking the vent, My 359 leaked from the vent, removed it and it is a one way check that I could blow through both ways. replaced it and my saw is almost completly dry other that what comes off the bar and chain.--- I have a 346 and a 353 that are both dry. I try to seal the oil pick-up tube and and any where under the bar mount plate with a product called honda bond ( helps to be working at a honda dealership) --this sealer works great and yet can be removed easily if necessary. -I keep my saws in a plastic case and they remain dry even with temp changes.

Just some bar sprocket grease and it wasn't a permanent fix.
