I have a nice Maple fire in the WoodStove to add some wood heat to my house.....Love the feel of wood heat. Wife, cats and dog like it too.
It's -26 C (feels like -31C) (that's -24 F) this morning.......brrrrrFor a very late start in getting cold temps and being warned a week ahead of the cold, It sure surprised when I went outside tonight. BRRRR....
Good morning VF.Been in the 30s-40s here. Lot of rain, ice, etc. Real fun.
open the windows? cant you just turn down the thermostat??Ya know when it's bitter cold like this my family tends to get a renewed appreciation for wood heat . There is nothing like having a mid 70's temperature cozy house on a wicked cold January night when everyone else struggles to keep warm and turns down the thermostat to conserve fuel costs ! I get a great sense of accomplishment knowing I'm not only providing that level of comfort but doing it for free and thumbing my nose at the oil man .because you know these can be very expensive days by using another heat source. I set my thermostat for 77 and its about 10 outside and windy . Why run it so warm ? Because I can!... and its free .house is almost too warm and I may open some windows if I hit 80 or I may not
Frig that's cold....We only got the cold snap for about 4 days. Only about 4 inches of snow so far as well. Now we have rain and warm temps on the way for the weekend. Supposed to be 8 degrees above and 20-30mm of rain for Sunday. Weird weather for January, but it keeps my wood and wood pellet consumption low, saves money.12 here this morning! We have hardly been near freezing this winter and then, BAM! Talk about a kick in the giggle berries, dogs didn't even want to walk around and sniff. Both of them pee and poop, back inside to eat and now they are curled up around the stove with the cat!
