I was splitting a Locust crotch fairly small.
Lost all hydraulics.ram won't move and the engine went to a higher idle.
So pump or love joy i figure? (the splitter is buried on all sides with logs).
I reached in from the front an SSS on my forearm seems as if i forgot exhaust was there?
After letting it cool no love joy there it seems to be almost a straight tube.
I turned the tube and the flywheel on the engine turned.
So i loosened the output from the pump hose to the spool valve fired up the engine and kind of like turning on your sink water @ 1/2 way.
I am thinking i cooked the pump?(it has split larger stuff easily)
It's my Big splitter for hardwood.(upside down RR track for the beam)and flat buried in bucked wood.
Any suggestions?
Mark
P.S. they always work all year long until you really need them!

Problem Solved !
The coupler between the engine (wood and sons)had a key that fell out.
Since it was buried in logs was hard to see.
I pulled the engine to see how it was attached to the pump and saw the key completely out.
I got lucky this time.
The beast is up and splitting again.
