How big do Yoshinos get?

I was thinking about putting one in under some telephone wire, but the nursery guy (who only sells Kwanzan) said the Yoshinos get too big.

I have only seen Yoshinos in the 10-15 foot range.

He said they grow to 40'.

20 to 30 feet with a potential of 40 to 50 feet. I've seen one up close to and shaded by a large office building that was about 40' tall. Look for an Acer truncatum - Shantung Maple. It will be a long time before it reaches 20'. A large shrub might do.

40 x 40 easy here in nc. A lot of people are not prepared for their mature size; tricky rascals to prune and keep looking good. A good candidate for paclobutrazol.

Many trees will fit under the wires better.

Take a look at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Lots of beautiful Yoshinos there bigger than 20 feet.

kwanzan's vase shape makes them easier to prune around wires, but they too will get 30'+ in time.
