A buddy mentioned a while back that he had an old 044 that didn't run. It had seen a lot of use over the years. He lent it out a few years ago, and when it was returned it didn't run. It had been sitting under his bench since. I asked if he'd be willing to sell it, and he gave it to me. He wouldn't accept anything for it, said he'd gotten his use out of it.
It ended up requiring a pretty thorough rebuild, but it's looking like it was worth it! It's cutting at about 10,600-10,800rpm with a 28" full skip in this 26-28" pondo. It was chilly this morning, about 9 degrees, but the saw was running great. It only has ~3 tanks through it right now, can't wait to see how it runs once it's broken in. This site was a huge help as I rebuilt this saw, thanks guys!
