    Old workhorses vs. modern saws

Stumper, So your saying the manufacturers have simply changed the way they're rated. I thought the newer saws may have benefited from lighter crankshaft and/or pistons to turn up more rpm's. If what you say is true, it sounds like a marketing decision to give the impression the newer...

    Old workhorses vs. modern saws

About 15 - 20 years ago most saws only turned up about 9000 RPM, while todays saws are around 13,000 RPM. How do the older saws compare to today’s saws regarding performance in the cut? Does displacement still rule or does the faster RPM and resulting chain speed make that much of a...

    Felling Marks

I have a new Husky 365 with felling marks on the case. Are these of any real benefit or is it simply a marketing tool? I have cut lots of firewood over the years by simply eye balling the desired path to fell the tree without too much problem, however I must admit that on occasion some trees...

    Come on cold weather!

My absolute favorite time of year is fall. I love the cooler temps when you can finally get some work done without sweating to death. I'm a big hunter too so in Oct/Nov you'll find me spending lots of time up in the mountains. The leaves will start changing colors in another month.

    Husky 350

I thought EPA probably had something to do with it since the newer 350's have 1 mm larger bore and don't put out any more HP. I've read lots of great things about the 359 here on the board, from all the recommendations it appears to be a great running mid-size saw. Hal

    Husky 350

While researching information on Husky saws I noticed the 350 was manufactured in two bore sizes. Here are the critical specifications that differ. Prior to 2003 44 mm bore / 32.5 mm stroke, 49.4 cc displacement equipped with a Walbro (HDA 159) carb and FHP ignition After 2003 45...

    Husky 460, 362xp or 570

stckciv, I bought the 365 at Ogden Lawn & Garden. They are one of the largest dealers here along the Wasatch Front and handle both Stihl and Husky. They're inventory showed two of the 365's in stock but they could only find one when I was there. Hal

    Husky 460, 362xp or 570

I was looking for a 372 for a long time because everyone here has spoken so highly of them, but they're tough to find. I settled on the 365 which was also higly regarded. I'll get chance to put it to work this weekend. Hal

    Husky 460, 362xp or 570

Well, I've shopped around for a while now and found that I could buy a saw for a few bucks less through an internet source but went back to my local dealer and bought the 365 w/20" bar. I thought in the long run I would rather support my local dealer in the event I might need his help for...

    Husky 460, 362xp or 570

OK, I looked at the 365 Special at the local dealer. Its the only one he has and its a brand new 06 model. He's asking $564 w/20" bar or $574 w/24" bar. Is that an OK price or do I need to shop around some more. I was hoping to look at a 372 also but can't seem to find one. Specs are...

    Husky 460, 362xp or 570

Thanks for all the help. There is a weath of information on this site and through lots of research I'm narrowing down my search. I was of the opinion that I wanted a saw with at least 4.0 Cu.In./65 cc and you have all confirmed that with your responses. It seems most of you are of the...

    Husky 460, 362xp or 570

I have a Husky 350 (18") saw for general use but am looking for a larger saw that can handle a 20" (3/8) bar with authority and occasionally a 24" bar for the bigger stuff. Any recommendations? I've been considering the new Husky 460, the 362xp and the 570. Hal
