    Outdoor Hardy

If you are looking for a furnace I would go look at it. I have had my H4 Hardy for four years now and love it. Mine was a little more than twice that price installed.

OUTDOOR Wood/Coal Furnace Reviews/Experience--Please post here...

You will have dozens of opinions on which OWB is the best. I personally have a Hardy H4 that I have had for 3 seasons now and could not be happier. After a lot of reading and asking questions decision was based mainly on friends experiences with the brand but a big plus and probably the deciding...

    Spur vs Rim

I own several saws old and new from a small Echo 302s to a an 031 Stihl with a Husky and a Craftsman thrown in for variety. The plan was not to rush out and convert all of them to rim and drum. I need a new sprocket or two for the Stihl and had read about the rim and drum but did not know...

    Spur vs Rim

Thanks for all the info. Once again this site has cost me money. But at least maybe this time it will save money in the long run.

    Spur vs Rim

What about chain length? If I convert to rims do I have to buy new chains or do they stay the same? More slots longer chain, less slots shorter? I can see the advantage of cheaper. What about the drums do they wear out or do you just have to replace rims? Sorry for all the questions but like...

    Spur vs Rim

I need to order a couple sprockets, currently all my saws use spur sprockets. What are the advantages or disadvantages of converting to rim and drum. I know this should be in the saw section but I would rather have the opinion of firewood cutters than pro-timber cutters. Thanks.

    Firewood Length

My OWB has a 30" firebox but I cut my wood 24" because it was cheaper to build a 2' splitter and the shorter cuts are easier to handle.

Good looking 1911. I always carry one with me when cutting. Never know when it might come in handy.

    tractor mounted log splitter

It wasn't the fuel consumption that bothered me about the three point hitch splitter. (Yours looks great by the way). It was the fact that I was putting wear and hours on a $15K tractor to do a job a free Briggs motor could do just as well. With the 12 horse Briggs being more motor than I need...

    tractor mounted log splitter

I agree. That was another reason I didn't like the three point splitter. It wasn't as fast as I thought it should be. With the 12 horse Briggs at 1/4 throttle and a 11 gpm pump it is a lot faster.

    tractor mounted log splitter

Hi neighbor, welcome to AS. I have some good friends down around Decatur. I built a splitter to go on my tractor and used it all one winter. The lever for my remote detents one way so I didn't have to tie it back. The only time it would kick off is when I hit something really hard. I used it...

    Oil tank for splitter

I have a friend who owns a sheet metal shop and another who has a muffler shop. One fabed my metal the other welded it together. I ordered all the fittings and breather/fill cap from Northern. Total cost was less than $50. I was able to put the suction and retun where I wanted them to fit my...

    Stihl 032AV Question

I inherited this saw a couple years ago. It was in great shape, just wouldn't start. Long story short, I took it to a local shop and he put a new electronic ignition in and it ran great until a wire broke loose and stuck out the back by the kill switch. I took it back and he had it fixed the...

    ford industrial gas engine question

Be careful if you decide to use the AOD. The throttle pressure is very touchy. Too low and they shift quick and slip. Automatics don't need to slip much before they are toast.

    Hardy OWB

I agree! I could not be happier with my Hardy. I light it usually in October or early November and let it burn until spring. I am heating well insulated 3000 square foot two story house and burn less than a rick a week in cold weeks. Measure the temp coming out of his registers it should run...

How many Farms on AS? answer the poll.

I have 200 acres that has been in my family for 60 years. There has been corn, tobacco, pigs, cows and hay all grown on the 100 open acres. I only grow grass and sell hay, plus a full time job in town. I always have blow downs or standing dead trees to feed my Hardy OWB in the 100 acres of woods.
