Seems kinda high for that mileage . I would keep looking .For $3000 there should be alot of trucks to look at .

Where is the DOT when this guy comes down the road ?

I am almost tempted to get ahold of this guy and find out a couple things . One would be why did he think those pictures would put him in a good light to prospective customers? Another would be as others said why isn't he using the much more appropriate dually ? I think the dually might be...

Yep same guy . The bus may have been earlier . I seem to remember that he had all types of vehicles from old flat fender jeeps to dirt bikes .

    Good old beater truck?

I remember the old Pickup,Van and Fourwheel Drive magazine ( think I got the name right ) that had a fellow that went by the name Desert Fox who wrote about his off road adventures in a VW Bus . I also new a kid in High School that had a VW bug that he used to take places you would hesitate to...

    Good old beater truck?

I agree .And lockers on ice are horrible in my experience . But I have to tell you a ARB or other selectable locker would most times double or triple the over all cost of the junkers I tend to look for in cheap wood haulers . In my experience which is not as extensive as yours probably when it...

    Good old beater truck?

I guess it depends on where you live and gather your firewood . I see plenty of guys on here that use 2 wheel drive trucks or dually rear wheel drive trucks that to me are awful in the slippery stuff but it works for them . I had to laugh a little about the lift part though . I have a 78 F150...

    Good old beater truck?

In that price range I would look at any of the big 3 from the 70's to early 80s . I have owned examples of them all and just like that time period truck for a beater . Not a big fan of one over the other when looking for a work horse . Currently running a 78 f150 4x4 . It had a new Jasper motor...

    CCW while firewooding?

Ok, But that wasn't quite my question . My question was have violent crimes with other types of weapons gone up or down or stayed the same . Same with unarmed assaults and murders up,down or the same . I am well aware that other countries have lower or higher crime/murder rates than the USA . I...

    CCW while firewooding?

Just curious about the UKs violent crime numbers . Has the number of murders with other weapons stayed the same or gone up or down ? What about rapes , assaults , muggings and other violent crimes . Something tells me if you look up those numbers you and Australia are very similar . I get the...

How much $ for standing ash

I think most of the guys are looking at this as just a firewood scrounge . If I understand you correctly you are trading labor and the few bucks you can afford for Hunting rights and any firewood you get is a bonus. If you were just to pay this guy for the right to hunt his property what would...

    Firewood stumpage price

I think it is one of those depends on where your located type of things . Firewood commands a higher price in New England than alot of other areas . I have a permit to cut on Regional Water Authority property . It costs me $25 a cord the first 10 cord and $12 a cord after that . It is worth it...

Any good ideas on measuring out the length of a round? Mingo, Marking your bar, ect

Out in the woods I eyeball it . For some reason the large rounds seem to be pretty much accurate but the smaller stuff I always seem to cut on the longer side for some reason . The logs that get delivered I mark with a yardstick and dollar store sidewalk chalk I stole from the kids .

Do you think my new wood sled will work?

I noticed the tongue not appearing to pivot as well . The sleds I have seen for moving logs had front and rear runners with the fronts pivoting . Maybe as long as there is enough slip maybe it won't stress it . But I do like your craftsmanship . Give it a go and modify as needed . The more I...

    Husky 257 problems

Well the jug is off and you have a gasket on the way so your gonna do that now whether it needed it or not . Fuel leaks can fool you . You get the saw running and the fuel gets spread around making it tough to pinpoint sometimes . Do the fuel lines if you haven't already put the saw back...

    firewood business

Most Tree companies that I know of own a stump grinder and the small guys just rent a machine when they need one . I know one guy that tried to start a business just grinding stumps and he failed . Just wasn't enough work to keep him going .

What stihl would be equal to a husky 257

I agree except my 257 seems a little stronger than my 034 . My 257 has alot of hours on it and the 034 I picked up is hardly used so maybe it just needs a few more tank fulls to break in .
