Think I'm planted to deep, now what?

After some help on here with a pesticide issue about another tree, some comments about planting to deep have me concerned for my two maples and two oaks infront of my house. All four were planted last fall (almost a year ago). These were potted trees (1" caliber ,maybe...about 6 feet tall) I...

    Purple beech tree issue

Thanks again. I googled girdling roots, looks like they wrap around and choke off the trunk? Is that would tends to kill low planted trees? How high above ground should the top of the root flare be on my next planting?

    Purple beech tree issue

Thanks for the help. Sounds like my attempt to get rid of whatever a few of us in the family are allergic to in our grass killed the Beech huh? That is disappointing to say the least....this is actually the second attempt at a purple/copper beech in memorial to my father (he died at a...

    Purple beech tree issue

OK I pulled back the mulch. Lots of small roots appeared (1st picture). I dug out some dirt with my fingers and a hand tool...felt like I was damaging too many roots so I didn't go any further, do you want to see more than this second picture? I found no sign of twine or burlap. I did...

    Purple beech tree issue

Thanks guys, sorry about the small pictures, try these from a camera instead of my phone. I just noticed in taking these it has sprouted a small red leaf right at the base near the mulch...she's still fighting I guess :). I shook it and it's strong as can be in the root ball. I have sprayed...

    Purple beech tree issue

Hoping for some help with a Purple Beech (fagus sylvatica). This is it's 3 summer in the ground, it's been healthy and looking great until about a month ago the leaves suddenly dried up and I noticed yesterday the trunk has some white on it. I watered religiously the last two seasons, this year...

Husky 365 bogging down, won't go past idle

I've got a Husky 365 that was flooded awhile ago (a river invaded my shop with 4.5 feet of water). I did the initial cleanup on it a long time ago but I'm finally getting around to getting this one running. I'm not a chainsaw expert doing mods etc myself but I do my own maint and I've been...

    Rebuilding a homemade splitter

My opinion, keep the 3/4" and ditch all the 90's...use 45's if you need something or just a longer 3/4 hose if you look at a chart of restriction you can add a lot of hose to make up the for restriction in all those 90's....

    Rebuilding a homemade splitter

Looks like a nice splitter, but I'm confused....you were talking about huge hoses for reduced restiction etc...but I see a 90degree fitting on pretty much every hose, most on both ends...you know that's more restiction than the hose diameter debate right?

    Central Boiler?

It's easy...pictures in the owner manual but all you need is an adjustable wrench. The large 1" or so pin that the door latch "snaps" down on slides forward and backward..you loosen the nut at the bottom of that pin to slide it...only takes a little bit and you can feel it tighten up alot as you...

    Central Boiler?

yep door seal...my 5036 was doing the same thing when I shut it down weeks ago. Had it set to 165 but it was hard to keep it that low air would creep in the door seal and smolter the fire hotter than I was getting rid of the heat so it was up in the 170's or higher all the time. You can easily...

    Is my pine tree sick?

Crap I just googled Cytospora Canker...it does remind me of what's going on with that tree, I see now why you asked if it was dry last year...it seems to come out after a drought and it was hot and dry last year...that's not good. How long till this guy is all brown and dead?

    Is my pine tree sick?

Thanks for the reply. It was limbed up when I bought the place years ago...being a younger new home owner I just went to cutting to clean it up (now days I would have asked around more). It was huge and crazy looking with lots of vines attacking the tree but I don't remember alot of dead...

What kind of "pine" trees are these??

I've got a row of big tall beatiful "pine" trees bordering my property, I'd like to add a few more near them but I'd like to add the same type. Any idea what kind of "pine" these are? Thanks,

    Is my pine tree sick?

I've got a good size pine tree, not sure what kind exactly, in my front yard that the birds love...but it's not looking so good this spring. We noticed a bunch of branches look dry and dying, it used to look for full and green, it looks like it's thinning out a bit. I also noticed some greenish...

    Burning Walnut Logs

Those are big rounds to throw in, like already said split once will help them try but also split you'll get more in the firebox, big rounds don't allow you to fill up the box much and honestly don't burn that well. My owb seems to work best with big round split at least once, a full "round" just...
