So, is a husky rancher 61 worth the time..

the 61 will always have a place of honor in my shop! I have that same white top/ metal chainbrake. Haven't upgraded the p/c but want to and will as soon at the current cylinder gets tired. good luck with it. edit-ditto on the "never having seen one with a closed port" from cantdog.

    drama in our area

article Not really sure where I stand on this. The trees need trimming, but they're doing a pretty bad job, but the trees are crappy roadside weeds for the most part, but they're still trees, etc. It always makes me mad to see the big names getting the contracts and locals being passed over.

    Hello Everybody

it might be easier to think of it as a "lazy boy" recliner rather than a barber chair these days. as the head goes down, the feet come up. p.s. rep for wearing safety gear on the farm.

    Be careful what you climb!!!

Had a similar situation in a birch once. Thought it was sound and climbed to take a few branches out, when I went to drop the trunk my face cut ran into dust when it hit the heartwood. I think it's more dangerous to have a tree heart-rotted when you're felling it vs. when you're climbing it...

do you take your own saw to work

I have a 633 and it works great for me. My biggest complaint is how it likes to bleed gas and bar oil when it's not running.

    Whats this Knot

the tail length was my biggest concern.

    is this snap-cut technique acceptable?

you'll get pinched finishing your bottom cut.

    Whats this Knot

    Whats this Knot

except that it's already called a figure eight slip knot. see section 4-25 here for a precedent. edit: pdqdl- at the above link there is also a knot that looks alot like the manharness or pioneer knot that you have described in the past. They call it a wireman's knot and it's at section 4-16.

    Solo ??

I've got a 633 (small top handle) and it is surprisingly well made with good power. My only issue is that it bleeds bar and chain oil like a jonsered, but I can live with that.

    Whats this Knot

This is the only time that I've used this knot, as a midline tie-in for a trucker's hitch. The forces on the knot are different when it is used this way though because rather than the tails hanging idly they become the rest of the rig and end up putting more stress on the knot. I was hoping...

How do you clean your pole saw blade?

I use oven cleaner on my circular saw blades for that cooked on, crusty, pitchy stuff. works well for that, should work on the pole saws as well.

    Husky 266 Help

Was there old gas in it? Had it sat for a long time without running? First thing to check in my mind is the fuel lines as they tend to get eaten up by bad gas. A small pinhole is all it takes.

    Whats this Knot

I'd call it a figure eight slip knot.

    40:1, 50:1 does it matter?

Now here's something that hasn't been said here, or as far as I know anywhere else either. I don't think that I've ever completely emptied my gas jugs. They might get down to the point where there is one tank full and then I fill them. In topping the tank off and then adding a full container...

i have a question about climbing harnesses

what kind of black diamond harness do you have? I'm a little confused by the "bottom and top tie in point". The older alpine bod harnesses have a loop that comes from between you legs and then the waist strap, both of these should be clipped. Other black diamonds have a small sewn runner that...

Can you give your opinion on this client's tree? PLEASE!

tough to say. It might compartmentalize and nothing may come of the damage, but it might also die tomorrow. a certified pathologist/arborist can look and see if there are any fungi developing because of/ inside of the wounded area and give a better prognosis. Pictures of the crown would help...
