    Big burl!!!

I love it. That is massive. I am sure that gave you a workout with that Beebe Bro's hand winch. I can't wait to see the pics of that thing when you mill it.

Anybody sharpening and setting their own bandsaw blades?

That is crazy. WM wants over $400 for their 7deg turbo profile and it is $145 on that site. You just saved me some $, thanks

Anybody sharpening and setting their own bandsaw blades?

So that confirms my suspicion that it is a poor job of sharpening by the resharp guys. A friend of mine just got the fancy new woodmizer grinder for over $5k but he uses a different stone than me. I am thinking of buying the stone for the 4 deg profile that I use and having him give my bands a...

Anybody sharpening and setting their own bandsaw blades?

I have run a Timberking for 4 years now and I gave up on resharps all together. I have a woodmizer dealer about 30 min away so I have taken them bands to sharpen several times but the quality cut is so much lower than a brand new band. It is very expensive but I only run brand new woodmizer...

    A couple new maple logs.

I have named her millzilla. It has been cutting very good lately. . I have determined that it must be female because sometimes I think she is the best thing that ever happened to me and other times I never want to see her again (yes I am still talking about the mill). Sent from my iPhone...

    A couple new maple logs.

Hey Cityslicker, how is my old mill treating you? Looks like you are keeping it working hard.

    Timberking or Woodmizer or other?

Good job brining this one back up from the dead. So since I posted this thread I have purchased 3 sawmills. My first mill was a 6" lucas. I bought it because it was on craigslist for super cheap. It was easy to run and low maintenance. I sold it and bought a timberking 1600. I liked that...

    First Beach Milling Oct 2012

I have had that very same issue with getting the chain to line up on the sprocket. I don't like how there is too much room between the clutch and the saw so the chain can get stuck instead of dropping into the sprocket. First time it happened I scratched my head for a while before I figured it...

One big log, a 96" bar and my observations

Yes, of course. Feeling kind of stupid. That would work. I think that would be the best options for really long bars. I am not a metal worker but I am pretty sure it would not be that hard to roll it and get enough of a curve to counteract the sag once it is in the mill.

One big log, a 96" bar and my observations

I think the best way is to see if the bar manufacturer can produce the bar with an intentional sag or tension in the bar. Then mount it in the mill with the bow facing up. The trick would be getting just the right amount of intention sag so that once it is mounted in the mill with a chain on...

One big log, a 96" bar and my observations

I have another 3120 but I need to have it worked on. I bought it used and it has never really run right so I don't want to pair it up with the good 3120. I think the problem with the magnet idea is that as Bob was saying the force it multiplies as it gets closer to the metal. I think you...

One big log, a 96" bar and my observations

The two bars are made by the same company, same power head, same milling attachement, same chain. After reading some of the posts I am wondering if the tension in the milling attachement may have messed me up. I will tinker with this more next time I have a giant log. For now I am going to go...

One big log, a 96" bar and my observations

We had a 40 HP kabota with forks on the bucket. It was all it could do to pick up the slabs. One time it started to tip to tractor so we put the slab down and put the backhoe attachment on the back to give it more counterweight. Thanks for the idea of tensioning the milling attachment...

One big log, a 96" bar and my observations

I wanted to share my milling project this last weekend. The log is a insence cedar about 14' long and between 70" and 82" wide As you can see from this next picture it log split off into several limbs. Unfortunatly because the log was dropped with about 20' of each of the limbs on it...

    Rusky mill

That is a way cool saw. The proof is in the cut and the closeups on the website look like it cuts really smooth. You can tell it was well built with the heavy castings. Thanks for sharing.

LMAO. I just could not help but ask WHY?

    Timberking 2400 vs wood-mizer lt70

I own a timberking 1600 which is a far cry from the 2400. I have used a lt70 and yes it is productive. I really did not like it because with all the weight of that diesel engine on the canteliver head it would shake back and forth when you engage the blade. Honestly I think both of those...

Chainsaw mill VS lucas mill SHOWDOWN!

WELL PUT sawyer Rob. I will agree, I have owned and operated a Lucas, CSM with bars ranging from 30" to 84" and timberking BSM. Out of the three styles my opinion would be that the lucas takes the least maintenance to achieve straight consistant cuts. Again that is "MY OPINION". With that...

    Not So Huge Logs

Sawyer Rob I like how you are rolling a log that size with that turning winch. I have a Timberking 1600 and I don't have a Hyd turner. It is such a PAIN to turn the big logs. I generally use the forklift but it is combersom and slow. My log dog system is very close to that design but I...

    Interesting swing mill design

I have spent some time watching their videos. I like the design because it is a lot more open than a lucas mill. I owned a lucas mill for about 6 months and I liked it but I felt like I was always ducking under a beam or walking around something to get from one spot to another. That was largly...
