Want to Sell Makita 6401 dcs for sale

I have a makita 6401 for sale. Since my neck surgery, I doubt I'll be able to do large amounts of firewood anymore and I certainly wouldn't need a monster like the 6401. 20"bar, comes with two chains, one is a box store cheapy chain, the other is stihl yellow chain, semi if I recall. $425 +...

    Glad I got ahead..

So Thursday I have a couple discs taken out of my neck and bone and metal plates put in. Not a great experience but worth it so far since my other pain has gone away. Anyway, I was reading that I was gonna be down for awhile, like 3 months. So I asked the surgeon and the 3 month thing am told it...

Things we have learned the hard way

Don't try to start the saw with the scabbard on it. It doesn't hurt anything except for the drawers you're wearing.

    Maikta 6421

Got a 6401 from HD the same way. I put a stihl yellow chain on it and it is a freaking animal. Have seen sparks before on both my saws, not sure why either.

How much does it cost to heat with corn, wood and propane?

Stove, flue, chimney- 6 years ago= $2,500. Wood is always free. Truck hauls 1/3 to 1/2 cord of wood at $5 in gas a trip. Gas and oil for the saw? $1 a trip. Saws? Bought a HD Makita for $225 so I'm ahead there. All that equals at most $15 a cord. Having the house at 74-76 and going downstairs...

    Electric splitter worth it?

I had 10 cord of hackberry that would have been termite bait if I hadn't got a Homelite electric splitter. Like Johnnie Cochran said, "If it'll fit, it'll split!" LOL Actually I have had very very few pieces that I could lift on it that it wouldn't split. Ran it for 6 hours straight at a buddys...

Some neat tree facts for my firewood friends

Absolutely stunning scenery in that video. How'd you like to have that view off your back deck every morning? As for the feller, he's got bigger ones than me. Pretty amazing.

dolmar 6400/7900 big bore kits. how are they holding up?

I've been following these threads because I have an interest in bumping up my 6400. It seems that the 84cc bbk isn't as strong as the 79cc oem. If that's correct, what's the reason for that? Is one easier to tune that the other? Just curious about learning a little. Thanks

The birds had a great day

Have some oak that I cut and quartered from April to June. Just getting around to splitting all of it and all of the bark is falling off of it. Every time I'd walk up to the house to take a break, the birds would come swooping in for the white grubs in the bark.:) They definetly got their fill...

    What kind of wood...

Sorry, they are not real telephone poles. They clearcut an area and limbed everything. Just stacks of the main trunks of trees, some 20ft. long or more. Just looks like a stack of poles. Thanks

    What kind of wood...

So I got a free wood score on a job site. Stacks of "telephone poles" just laying there. My question is what kind of wood it is. Don't have pics yet but a very distinguishing feature of the wood is that it is very yellow when cut. Pieces that have been exposed to the sun have turned a dark...
