I'm sticking to it too. Does a rope fray if its never pulled, does a spring snap if its never stretched, don't think so. 200 times in a hour hmmmmmmm, not so sure, makes sense to me, if not you thats fine..
I'll rewrite it again....how does the rope fray any differently or does the rewind spring get stretched any differently if he pulls it over 200 times in an hour or if he does it in a year?

How it relates is just because I took issue of you accussing Cen of BSing doesn't mean that I'm good friends with him nor do I personally know him at all.

No I personally believe he did do it. Who is the "We" you are referring to that know he didn't? How long is his lunch? How long does it take to crank a saw 200 times? Neither you nor I know. Just because you seen he did it over his lunch you assumed that wasn't enough time to eat and crank a saw 200 times.

Well ok, you beleive he really pulled that thing 200 times, I don't so I guess I'm gonna have to let you beleive that and your gonna have to let me think its BS. So thats out the way now.

Now let me ask you something, do you beleive Cen telling Jim his new 361 was a fat pig was right? Do you beleive Cen telling Jim the saw just needs a carb adjust was right when we know now it wasn't the case ? Do you beleive Cen was really trying to help out Jim by telling him he never had any issues with his Makita or Huskys like that? Do you beleive Cen was right to tell Jim he ought to get a so and so when the man just bought a brand new saw? Do you beleive Cen read the whole thread and knew Jim was deaf before he started in with all that non-sense of his? I shall await your reply.

Good grief, I'm beginning to see why Lakeside got off this site, he couldn't take the stupidy anymore. If my sense of humor wasn't so good I'd join him but I get too many laffs out of this non-sense.

LOLOL. Ok, lets try some simple math. Lets say it takes 5 pulls to start a saw to get it started. 200 divided by 5 is 40 start ups. Look at the pull rope after 40 start ups, does it still look new, no, its worn some. The recoil spring may last 200 starts but not at 200 times per start,LOL

Now lets have your reply to my previous post...

In reference to power equipment I've always interpreted "pig" as something that wasn't cooperating.....hard starting, won't run right, etc.

Do you beleive Cen telling Jim the saw just needs a carb adjust was right when we know now it wasn't the case?
Who is "We" again? How did Cen know the carb was adjust right?

That may very well be his personal experiences so can't see why it was out of line.

That may very well be his personal experiences so can't see why it was out of line. He acknowledged in post #6 based on his personal experience he has seen his workers have problems with this model so he now refrains from letting them use it.

I would guess probably so refer to posts #6, #49, and specifically #59.

Nice work, but that still doesn't answer my question. I'll highlight the key words and then you take another stab at it.

No no, its answers your question quite well, you don't want to accept it and thats fine. If you want a better answer I suggest you call one of the saw companies and tell them about this 200 crank test. I would love to hear them laffing and going are you crazy on the the other end of the line..

Well Brad its like this, when someone spits out a he can crank a saw 200 times with the choke on and then say they can unflood before even doing it makes one wonder doesn't it. You may buy that BS but not me, sorrry..

The use of fat pig and none too kosher carb in post 170 was done for fun, not to insult a persons saw. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have used porkchop or lobstah which would have made that post a lot more entertaining. I suppose I really should limit my use of idioms and alliterations on this site. The use of ms361 and egg cream in the same sentence would probably get me be banned for 40 days and 40 nights.

Anyone should be able to join the stihl 200 club in under a half an hour. If you are in good shape and don’t smoke, you can probably get it done in under 15 minutes. The ms361 pulls like buttah with the decomp valve pushed in. You needn’t worry about the starter rope, springs or pawls, they will be fine. A saw will only flood so much before it just kicks the excess fuel out of the muffler and decomp. On this saw the magic number appears to be about 75. If you don’t think you can make 200, shoot for 75 and post up your results. It is good to challenge yourself and your equipment.

Tommy, you showing signs of backing off here? Stay in there and keep jabbing with the right, and set him up for the left upper cut... Andy is here ringside, watching!

LOL, okkkkkkkkkk 75 times on choke before you see wet fuel come out the deco valve and muffler, okkkkkkkkkk. Cen your having too much fun but it is amuzing to say the least. 200 pulls in 15 minutes, okkkkkkkkkkkkkk, hahha

Backing off from what,LOL I think Cens last post pretty well shows what I thought all along, he's having fun. He's saying 200 pulls in 15 minutes now, why my goodness he must be pulling that thing non-stop after all,:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

Tom et al...

I know someone in these post suggest I bought a dud in a 361 but I never thougth of it that way. It was basically getting the starting procedure right...no users manual will get it right as each saw is different.

I went to my customers and finished up the job today. He hired me to do some clearing of overgroth in front of his TH and this is where my Wild Thang took a puke. I have been over his place two times with the saw and could not get it start. He suggest I take it back to HD LOLOL (don't know **** from a good saw but that is ok otherwise he would not hire me to do it). I have started the saw multiple times since I got it right and it did so today.

My simple plan is to start the saw on full choke and crank exactly 2 times, then move choke up to fast idle and crank two or three times and it starts. I do not know if I will feel the same fire on full choke but I err on the safe side and crank 2 times and move on to fast idle. If it does not start on fast idle I will go to full choke again and try two cranks and move to fast idle. This way I will not crank too many times on full choke and flood the saw. This seem to work for me.

I understand why Cen or someone did not want to have a bunch o' 361's on the truck and workers flooding these saws. It seem the 361 is a bit pricky about starting and if this is the case...leave the 361 to the pros who know how to start it. Not taking away from anyone but if this saw floods easy all you got to know is it flood easy and attempt to start it with minimal full choke and it will usually start. BTW I do not use the decomp anymore as so far it seem to be working for me. And I do the drop start as it is a easy saw to start.

I know ya all got your favorite saws and that is the point of this site. nothing wrong with the saws everyone likes but I sure ain't gonna go out and buy another saw for $500 bux just cuz this 361 gave me fits. I like it and it is humming along for me now...that is all I care. I do not think it needs a carb afjustment...for THE KING start it in front of me own eyes  :chainsaw:

Jim,

That's great news. You found a method that works for you and your saw. And, you have THE KING, AKA THE CHAMP, as backup if you ever need help.

Jim, I'll bet ole Tommie was singin' an Elvis tune for ya and ya missed it. Lucky you.

Remember, "You're in good hands with HallState".

Now go get 'em,

You make a good point Jim; we all learn what works with time.
My 026 has always started and run well for me; and yet - when the in-laws came to visit, FIL couldn't start it until I spent some time with him. Yes, he flooded it. But once I dried the saw and showed him how I did it. Worked like a charm for him. Real glad to hear that yours is performing well for you...you have a good attitude...and an excellent dealer to back you up.

LOL. Good one. My brother stopped by abit ago and he was talking about the 361 I gave him last year. He loves that saw BUT did say its a easy MOFO to flood. He too had to get the hang of it so Jim isn't alone by no means.

A 361 is like the lady that married 4 times, all four husbands died before she did. The 1st one was the banker, the 2nd was a circus ring master, the 3rd was a funeral director and the 4th was a preacher. She said it this way, "one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready and four to go". Jim spent his money, I gave him a show, he had to learn to get it ready and now Jim is on the go,:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

Hahaha, shame on you Joat, how dare ya talk about Woodie that way,(I love it),hehhe

Where has Woodie been anyway? He called the shop a week or two ago and we had a blast on the phone. He was wanting a small backpack blower. I suggested that small Echo backpack. Stihl doesn't make a small backpack. We talked maybe 20-30 minutes. The Woodie on the phone is nothing like the Woodie we see posting. He's actually right nice, I was shocked,LOL
