This is the fault of all you guys on this site. For my whole life I thought if you burn wood you need A saw.Just one.Well I got a nice new 346XP and the guys I cut with have 372's sooooooo what I err..we need is a small saw.I looked at the 339XP when I bought my saw and it is a cute little thing but 500 bucks ain't in the cards for a limb saw.And with the air cleaner thing I'm looking for something else.I have no brand loyalty BUT I do love this Husky. It's light, small, starts EZ and looks like it'll last.

I'd like:
Smaller than the 346
7 or 8 LBS.
Good power(2 ish HP.
NO PLASTIC CRANKCASE!
If possible .325 chain to match the 346 so I only need a 3/16 file in the field.
Also I like the new anti-vibe stuff on a saw

Thanks in advance
DON the X one saw guy.

limb sw

I have a PP260. It was cheap and is hard to keep running over 1 min.
I also have a Husky 435. It is hard to crank, but runs great and idles
when you get it running.

U trying to sell them?

I looked at a husky 235E at TSC but that is almost as heavy as the 246 I own.Looks like a OK saw though.

Not really. I may use the 260 for target practice.
(deer season coming up)
It ran for almost 2 minutes before acting up last time I worked on it
You can buy them on ebay for about $50.
The Husky may get better when broken in.
I runs like a bat out of H#*% once you get it started.

A while back I was in the same boat. I actually bought a 339XP, and though it's a nice saw the ergonomics aren't for me (it's designed for someone with a bigger frame than my 5' 6-1/2" skeleton!)

I ended up with a Dolmar PS-341 (the PS-401 would fit your criteria too; same block, slightly larger bore.) Lightweight, powerful for a small saw, and real pro-quality construction: magnesium case, vertically split, bolt-on cylinder, and fully adjustable carb.

It is now one of my favorite saws, and the 339XP sits unused in the garage. Both the 341 and 401 have been discontinued, but you'll still find new examples in the pipeline. Call around - they're worth the effort!

Search reviews on AS before you buy one.
The 435 is sometimes hard to start, but Swedish made.
I only gave $90 for the Pull-on new (display unit) . I am just trying
to get a little more use out of it.
Some of the low numbered Husky's are rebadged Poulan junk.
The PP260 I have was made in Mexico.

I second the vote for the PS401 Dolmar, with one condition attached. You MUST tune this saw for it to run right. Out of the box it is a sick dog with a bad limp. With an easy MM and proper tuning, it is a little banshee. If you don't know how to tune a saw, find someone who will do it for you, or get a different saw.

You've already got one of the best limb saws on the market..... the 346.

What you're looking for is the little Redmax 3800 a nice little saw with a professional construction. If you can drill a simple little hole it's a VERY nice little package.

The best bang for the buck may be the little Ryobi 10532 (re-badged Redmax) referbed for around a hundred bucks. Need to do a few little tweaks on it and it seems to be a nice little saw as well.

If you want to spend some serious coin maybe go with the Stihl MS200 (not T) but it's been proven a few times that the little 3800 with the muffler mod will out cut it at less than half the price.

Do a search for "Redmax 3800" and "Ryobi" should keep you entertained for a good while.

Yeah I put a lot faith in what Brad says about saws. That roybi/redmax sounds like a nice small saw.And if I find a refurb and ask Brad nicely I can see that I might fall in love again.I was worried about small saws being a let down after running the 346 but them little saws seem KEWL.

I feel a jones coming on for a small saw!DAMN YOU ALL!!

Just got my second Ryobi 10532 today.Tried to port the first one and thought I screwed it up.They have a strato engine and its like nothing I've seen before. After I put together and fired it up it would run at full throttle for a couple seconds an die.
I liked the little bugger so I thought I'd get another and save the first for parts.I started to switch the carbs as I had slotted the metering screws on the first one and noticed the gasket between the plastic manifold and the cylinder had slipped off when I had previously assembled it.Doh!!
Runs good now but I have an extra saw I may be looking to pass on.
Already did the fuel line fix and it seems to run fine.Haven't cut with it yet.
If your interested let me know.Ron

I bought it from Toolnow through Amazon $120.00 shipped.Milkman pointed out in a PM that if you buy direct from Toolsnow it goes for $99.00
