Hi,

I would like some info regarding modding at least a couple of my saws. I have been trying unsuccessfully to reach a few of you. I have quite a few brand new saws I am interested In increasing their performance. I like to have what others don't and just need some guidance. I do not cut for a living, I am the GM at a Ford dealership. I just enjoy saws and what they can really do. I have a wood burner and my parents do also. We have about 300 acres in central PA and do cut often. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it??

MS261,MS441CM,MS460,MS660,MS880,550XP,562XP,576XP,395XP. I can include a family pic on request. I don't joke no games cash!! I just like to have the best. My brother and I are just having a blast with my saws.

You will have to decide in a little more detail what you are seeking. Do you want the fasted cutting saw in the county? A powerful but reliable saw that will be useable for a number of years?

Fastest and reliable may be at opposite ends of the continuum.

Reliability is a must. I should of defined myself a little better, I'm sorry. I am really looking at probably which saws would see the most gain. 660?? 261?? 460???, 395?? I am very happy with the small Husky's. I am afraid to touch the Autotune-Mtronics. Some I am happy with some I think need SPEED!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just want to add that these saws only have At the most 2 -3 tanks through each.

I'm confused if you want to do it yourself or are trying to have the work done.

That is quite a list of saws... not sure where you want to start. The 460 and 660 are probably the easiest to port yourself if you are interested in going that route. Do you want all of them ported or what?

I would start by muff modding all of them one at a time, removing limiter caps and re-tuning. Do that before deciding which ones you want ported.

I have no time or know how to do it myself. I wish I did!!! I do understand two strokes, raced MX for years just never did my own engines. I am looking for someone to work them over for me. I just want to be able to say my $*^**+%## is faster than your $&@--;:^.

I am not trying to be difficult, just looking to spend money to have " best in camp" saws.

You really are a county fair blue ribbon winning...NUT CASE..!!

Only porting will bring you more power and it's quite expensive..guess that doesn't matter to you.

Go spent your massive $$ on some race cars and get some REAL thrills...

Fast chainsaws are a joke compared to going 200 mph on the Autobahn...

Of course that's not all the time by congestion..but in the middle of the night..!!!

Been there...done that...in a dude's Ferrari..scared the living **** out of me..!!
(I was younger then...I'm WAY older than that now..!!!!!!)

Post of the week here.

Ok, gotcha.

Lot's of guys that do good port work for money on here.

My two favourite port guys are Mastermind (Randy) and blsnelling (Brad). I give them a plug because they share exactly what they do and help guys that like to do things themselves for fun.

Randy does his own machine work and that is what you need if you want the fastest saws around. Brad has a great recipe for porting the 261. Both are real gentlemen. There are tons of other guys that do porting as well so look around if you want.

Now, you have so many saws you probably can't even use them all enough yourself to even break them in in a timely fashion. So, I would say you should pick one or two to be built as balls to the wall fun saws.

Hey #######s I'm no joke. I spent 5 years working for the Andretti's. I understand performance, If my money is no good that's fine I'll move on. I thought that I landed in a place that could assist me. Thanks but no thanks I guess.

Get a silvey razor sharp II and learn to use it well. A razor sharp chain can give you a good increase in cutting speed. A saw can only cut as fast as the chain will let it.

The 395 and 562 will respond great to port work. Really any of them will gain good and make more power than they did stock.

And no $$ wasn't really a factor so much as it didn't surpass the price of the saw.

I'm sorry I posted before I saw that some folks do really care. I appologize for spouting off. I'm sorry, I am a 40 year old business man, I am not a child playing games. View attachment 247541. If this uploaded I am on the wall doing a call for Michael.

mtrees...NO problem with you posting what you did...!!

This can be a tough site and trumping your financial situation really didn't help ya here..just being honest.
Most folks here are of moderate income so it's really best just to not bring your finances into the topic.

You're much more likely to have members help you if you're low on finances rather than have fat pockets.

Yeah..friend of mine (inherited a lump of $$) and bought an new 1966 Shelby GT350

Took it on the interstate and buried the speedometer...I'm guessing we were about 140 mph.

I was scared chitless..but that was nothing compared to the Ferrari 200+ on the Autobahn..!!!!
(that's a memory I'll take to the grave..!!)

P.S. Forget the saw upgrades for "thrills"...they wear off in minutes and then you want more...!!
