McCulloch BP-1 44cc and 4.2 hp = 10.476 :)
There are others that best the 046.

Sure there are, but how many of them has been submitted to independant dyno testing, except for the 7900????

Solos sure doesn't count - they have a reputation, and doesn't submit their saws to such tests......:censored:

The Huskys usually have the better powerband, compared to the pre-361 Stihls, at least at the top and bottom - but the Stihls often have the better peak hp and Nm, to no avail.......

Then call me crazy. Every Husky I've ever used except the 394 seemed very peaky in the power delivery. This includes the 361 too. They cut fast, as long as you let the chain feed itself. I grew up using an 041 and anything less seems wussy. My 009L feels like it has twice the torque of 346, even though it cuts twice as slow.

Saw Troll, how many 1000's of tanks have you put thru saws? 1,000, 2,000, 10,000 maybe. In the last 25 years of logging I have never found the above statement to be true. Stihl's have always been the saws with the more usefull powerband. Here are the Stihl saws I have owned; 024,026,028,034, 036,038,044,046,064,260,360. Each of these saw had more torque and a more user friendly powerband in real world use than the similar size Husky's I have owned; 242,246,254,257,262,266,346,350,357,359,362,371,181,61,162. The only Stihl that fails to be superior to the similar Husky is the 361, which I own but did not list above. It is my least favorite Stihl in stock form.

Of the stihls I've used in forestry 200, 023, 026, 036, 044, 046, and the older huskys 260, 280, 380, 372, and various smaller ones, the torque curves and stuff don't really mean much, it's more how the saw runs, they all power through trees like butter, some motors more relaxed than others, they all rev out high, there's power everywhere on all of them, my favorite the 65cc jonsered motor is heavy duty torque similar to an 044 but also revvier and lighter like the 60cc stihl

cmon the huskys have got better powerbands for forrestry work ie felling and delimbing thats why in every major forrestry contest husky and jonsered win.
having spent the week felling with my 357 as soon as you put the finger to trigger its instant rev your nutts off power band comes in unlike some stihls i have owned that need about three seconds or what seems like it to get any decent revs up

Stihlcrazy, I thought that muffler modded 361 of yours was a good runner and one of the better stock 361's I have ran.
Even the new owner was happy how well it ran.

Were you not happy with it in stock NON muffler modded form? or like you had sent it to me with muffler mod?

Hello?????

How about POWER to RESALE value

Yep!!!!! see it all the time on eBay,,,, a prime example,,,, saw a 460 that some dummy leaned out with only half way decent cosmetic condition probably at least 3-4 years old still bring nearly 400,,,, Go figure,,, same with 660's needin a topend or just a piston over 400 is not uncommon....

That sort of fits - if you don't like the powerband on the 4-channel Huskys, you will not like the 361 either - but it looks like most unbiased people do, only not you......:)

Your telling me that the 066's and 660's are selling that high on ebay........

Except in reality. They certainly don't 'win' in the forests. Fact is that worldwide, most people who's paychecks depend on their saws use Stihl.

If you can't lean on a 372 with a 20" bar then I can't imagine how bad it must be with a 28" bar buried.

If I liked the 361 after the muffler mod do you think I would have sold it?

In stock form my muffler mod 260 was slightly stronger. I have had 3 stock 361's and here a 359 is much stronger.
