Yea but I wanna actually see how it cuts, the feel of the saw, the AV the whole bit. Cutting times doesn't tell a prospective customer the whole story.

Probably have to check with a dealer for a demo, or find someone who has one that will let you run it, but I hear they are pretty similar in the "AV" department.

Buy 'em while you can......Remember the epa is coming......Who knows what will be around in a couple of years. Look at how many wanted a MS-440 after they were discontinued. Every one knew they were going away and many did nothing. Same with on line Husqvarna sales.

This raised an eyebrow for me. Given the times,this is not huge wood. So seeing the radical difference in times between the 7900 with the 7 and 8 pin sprocket I wonder if either the chain is not terrifically sharp or the operator is not getting the most out of the saw.
With a sharp chain and the right touch, the times should be at least closer. These days I run 7 pin on everthing because I prefer it overall, but in smaller wood the penalty of the 8 pinshould not be that drastic (over 2.5 seconds).
Course that has nothing to do with the comparison between the 7900 and 681, just an observation about the testing situation in general.

The 681 is a very nice saw. Who knows what 2010 will bring to all saws. So everyone better get what they want while the gettin is good.
Thats depends on the type of wood, and how your chain is setup.
I ran a 8 on my 7900, but I also ran the rakers pretty high. This setup worked great in hardwoods. However, if I filed the chain with too much hook or I went to low on the rakers a 7 pin was faster. Ultimately I went back to a 7 pin because I found it to be more forgiving.
