031 new one on me?????????????

It is a bit hard to tell from the pictures if there is any deep scoring of the cylinder between the port and the head of the cylinder. I can see some marking there but can't tell how deep it is. There is a couple of lumps below the port, are they carbon or metal lumps? What does the piston look like? Does it have any scoring down the side? Have you done a compression test on the saw? I'd hate to see you throw away a serviceable cylinder:)
What diameter is the bore? I have a 44mm piston and cylinder in good condition.

The hard coat is gone..I put a little acid and did some sanding in hope it was transfer but it is not..:angry:
 
I was cleaning it up..I did not want anything getting in the way of the new points...

Actually I was tightening the flywheel nut when I noticed the smears....
 
doesnt stihl have one of the atom units

Last time I ask the stihl dealer there still available

But i think you cant use them on the 031 if I remember right

the unit has a Stihl Number about 15 to 25 bucks

Not bad a P&C and new set of rings $40....
 
Man I just got in with a set of gauges.. I must have lost mine.....

I also am supposed to make a how to to mod a muffler on a 290,310,390 type saw tonight....

We will see what happens.....
 
Well I found a few things missing..

The little clip for the throttle linkage....

muffler gasket......

one spark plug.....

Will know more latter.....

Looking at the IPL I don't see a muffler gasket???

Should there be?????????

And can anyone give me the Bosch plug number???

Ok so I went out to my bench and found the missing clip....

I also went without the muffler gasket till I found out if it needs one....

So anyway it is all back together and as soon as I can we will see if it runs.....

ok so no spark!!!!!

Here is what I have done...

New plug wire....

swapped points and gaped to .015....

Wima

and new P&C..

any idea's?????
