Are all the 346XP's with a green fuel cap have a cat muff on them? Can you just swap out a non cat muff on them or is ther more to it?

If everything's original, yes. Nothing but a muffler swap, maybe a retune.

My 346XP had a green fuel cap and the top of the muffler was stamped CAT.

A regular non cat muffler will fit.

They are identical except for the fuel cap, muffler, and model decal on the recoil.

Will it pull good with a 20" bar with a muff mod and port job? Or would it be more suited for an 18"? I have never run one but very interested in one after alot of people on here have givin great reviews on them.

myself id say even in ported form i would not want a 20'' bar even though it would pull it.i think they are better suited to a 16 or 18.

They do better as a limb saw as they are high rpm

I use a 18" X .325" X .050" bar on my new edition.

The old edition would be better with a 16" bar and .325" pitch

I run a 20" B&C on mine, more for the added reach though. It pulls a 20" bar fine. I run a 7-pin .325 rim.

Ive got a 20'' bar for my 346, I like the extra reach and less bending, but its too much if your cutting bar deep IMO.
