I remember back in the 80's when you could go into any of the smaller loggin' towns 'round here and hit the pawn shops... 090's 075's 076's 056's could be had in very good condition for $250 bucks... wish I could time warp...

I here that! Like when you used to be able to walk into some gun shops and pick WWII surplus out of barrels and off skids piled like cord wood. Too bad my crystal ball was broken.

ok then talkin about "top heavy" or n this case long heavy!! ... I guess no brown or grizzly bear could get anywhere close to you if u had a problem :chainsawguy:

Okay....I'll start sharpening (I know it's new) the more than 14 feet of chain for next weeks cutting!

I'm surprised that there isn't a handle on the end of the bar for a second person!

Let's see here....I'll add that to my collection....probably in my next life....are there saws in Heaven?:)

They left the handle off so you can bury the bar. :hmm3grin2orange:

Guess you could slab 6' logs with that thing without a mill.

i believe the bar was just for the store - as a show piece.. someone place tell me that a bar that long would NEED to be a 2 person setup!!

GF Berenak was using one when falling the tree in this poster...

Stihl 090 7' bar

Listen to diesel and coffee...helper handle perhaps? Is that thing safe? Can an 090 run that bar? Put an 090 on each end and go milling perhaps?

I got a nice 660 for $275 this year, close?

XJWoody, 070s and 090s are indeed still sold new where there are not EPA-type regulations prohibiting them. I remember someone posting a link on here to a webstore selling them, I believe it was in New Zealand, and I think they were asking over $3000 NZ at the time. I might be a bit off, and I know saws tend to be a lot more expensive there in general.

Here's a nice brand new 070 or 090 being horribly abused by some poor African who clearly doesn't have enough training:

And an old, well-worn beater doing its job perfectly:
