Welcome to the site. All the suggestions are good. Several folks have recommended the Huqvarna 288. It is a very good choice for doing what you'd like to do. I am almost finished building one for my milling operations and I have found myself wishing that parts were more available. The older Jonsereds (I have 2 910s) can be VERY hard to find parts for, I would avoid them. (Great saw, mind you, but I've waited a long time for parts to show up). If you can swing it, try to pick a saw that is a little more contemporary. I would suggest something more along the lines of a Husqvarna 394/395, Stihl 044, Stihl 046, Stihl 064 or Stihl 066. If you were a collector I'd say go for one of the older or less prolific saws, but as someone who needs to rely on a saw, you'll be a lot more successful in keeping it online if you make parts avilability a priority. Just my 2 cents.

Good luck and keep us posted.
