Ever seen a chain like this?!!!

This is a sample of a race chain sent to me by Fire8. This is an old chain used years ago. Anyone ever seen anything like this? I certainly have not.

I stand corrected the Galer chain was an A1. The one pictured is an A2

That looks like a lot of my chains when I throw them away, wore out. If it were made to go both ways it would have a rake on both sides.

l just think it has been ground from all angles to remove wieght but leaving a strong shoulder in the process. Can be done to any chain l suppose.

Carlton is a common race chain out here.

I've seen chains like the one Brad posted photos of. The average farmer creates chains like that without even trying

That really is an old chain, plenty of advancements made to race chains since that one was ground out. Cutting the rear of the tooth off was to reduce friction but too much was taken off the back end of that chain, not enough from the front. The cutting edge needs to be further back, more centered over the rivet below it.

I have had to change a few due to looking that thin. When the cutters look like triangles, they can get thrown in hard wood

Weight and friction reduction to the max, I always like the way a chain cuts just before the start loosing teeth when filing.
