Some parts of NZ have just had some pretty serious rain and floods. There are a few areas where forestry slash swept off the hillsides and caused serious damage downstream.
This isn't a new issue. Location, timing, slash sizes all played their part.
What rules do you have in your area to avoid such issues?
I'm starting to think we'll see restrictions on harvesting seasons, not to mention locations of new plantations, and possibly the need to harvest whole trees and mulch all slash on the landings. If the latter, will we then need another round of laws to deal with more silt?
