Any other to consider? If you have one let me know what you like/dislike in the tree pictured.

I run stock 261cm, 361 & ported 461. My 361 has been absolutely reliable and seems just the right saw for anything up to 20" a true goldilocks-zone saw FOR ME. The 2 & 461's are definitely more specialists in my armada.

That said, I have not done nothing but mess around with Husq, etc. On your list but just because of my local dealer/ service situation. I did pick up a Jred 2139t from TLandrum recently and that little plastic saw is turning out to be a beast! Mucho smiles/pound. Oops, small sidetrack.

I've always been a 65-70cc firewood saw guy... husky 365 and 372's... since 1998...

now that i have the 550xp, with just a simple muffler mod, it gets used A LOT more than I ever thought it would. I used to fell the trees with the 365/372 and then use a 5100 dolamr to limb it and buck up the smaller stuff up top. The 550xp has changed my opinion of 50cc class saws. took it to dads last week after work and dropped a 14" black walnut, 16" ash and 17" cherry with the "flimsy, peaky, pos 550xp". It might be my favorite saw and that says a lot after I've owned just about every saw out there. I also have an ms261... its for sale. As josh said, Its priced like a 70cc saw, the size of a pregnant whale, power of a homeowner 40cc saw.

yup, the pos 550 took these down before dark, bucked them up all in less than and hour before dark. the only thing it didn't do was split and stack them in my truck. It has a 16" windsor 3/8 bar and stihl RS chain. This might have been the first time I ever took ONE saw to drop three trees. I love my 372., but this 550xp has gotten the most use the last two years as the firewood king around the ranch. I'd love to try a 555/562 that might be the perfect 20-24" firewood saw. As far this thing just making decibels, if you have a sharp chain, it is a light saber. If you want to cut with a dull chain and pry on the saw, get a big cc monster.

The MS261 with 18in B&C. It balances perfectly with the 18in. PHO, it weighs exactly 1lb less than my 562XP PHO. I'm not talking about published specs. I have both & have put them on the scale. The 562 balances perfectly with the 20in Techlite & is a joy to use, but it still weighs enough more ( 1lb + the additional wt. of the 20in B&C) to be quite noticeable. The 261, as described above, has more than enough reserve power to handle the 18in B&C in any hardwood we have in Mich. For what the original question was asking, this would be my choice.

I went into Home depot today, They had a echo 590 20" It looks like a very nice saw for 399. After swinging it around the aisle for 10 min or so I have decided I want to get a smaller saw first. 50cc ish.

Thank you everyone.
