i have run a stock 440 plenty. try again. i also didnt need to run one because the stopwatch told the story, 13+ seconds.

i only want my 346 to run a 16" bar. just run the 20" for slappin' 026's back up on the porch or maybe even a 5100 if somebody with one had big enough onions to put their saw where their mouth is.

as i recall the stock 460 cut 11.9 seconds and your built 460 cut 8.3 seconds. that is exactly a 30% gain and very common for a good woods ported saw. you must have one hella' "stock" 440.

to refresh your memory seeing its failing:

built 460 8.3
stock 460 11.9
stock redmax621 12.9
built 346 13.0
stock 044 13+
stock 361 14.6

how you got a stock 440 to run 11.0 in an undocumented run is beyond me!

:monkey:

if it was a 044 and not a ms440 then they are kind of different animals, the ms440 was like .4 hp more than a 044, and all of the 044s are wore out. unless the 044 was fresh its not fair to call it junk. and 046s and 460s are so dang heavy compared to a 440 id rather lug a 660 around and have ALL the power

and burn 3 quarts of gas to buck 3 logs.....lol

First, this is an old thread that are better left in peace.

Second, not all 044s have the lower power rating, and the difference isn't as much as you stated.
