Well Guys,

I may have to just stand around and watch this weekend!:msp_sad:
Been trying to get these old junks of mine up and running but not having much luck!
Half of them won't hit a lick, and the ones that will fire sound more like David Bradley's than Poulans.
My chains are all trash, sprockets and clutches worn out, bars bent and pull ropes squeaking.
Half tempted to just leave them at home.
Oh well I guess that's all a guy can expect from a bunch of Poulans!!!

your gonna be with a bunch of guys that fix saws take the best one run it like you stole it! let the fellas figure out whats wrong on the others!they love to be the one to figure it out LOL and you aint gottta pay them to fix your saw!!!!!! welll beer but thats a given hahahahah!

I believe the original impulse line was tygon on these correct? Do you think the impulse line kit from a 330/380 would fit without trouble and its rubber too. I am thinking of ordering that instead of the original.

No the impulse line should have been a rubber line. Don't use tygon for that, it wont hold up.

I dont know about the 330 "kit". I think its just a piece of rubber line. I got some rubber Echo line from edge and engine that works good for this.
 
Poulan 655 troubles.

We are hitting highs and lows on this Poulan 655/Pioneer P62.

Yesterday afternoon I had that puppy running good. I wanted to take it out to the farm and try it out. This morning I filled the oil tank to check for bar oiling and it took a lot of oil. W.T.H.?? Fired it up and it ran worse and worse and finally quit. Smoked like the devil. According to DSS some kind of plastic divide has fallen out of place between the oil tank and fuel tank.

How do you fix that. Split the cases? Or, is there a way around that?

Don't see it (the divider thing) in the IPL I have. I flushed both sides with mineral spirits and will repeat with lacquer thinner and let it dry completely. Wish I could see in there to figure something out.

Our spirits are lower than wale poo-poo.
 
Wow Mark! What saws to bring? What you just said sounds great! ;) I have never run a 655, so that would be high on my list. Glad ya got the 71A fixed up. That was hoot to run. I will definitely wear my muffs this go round, when getting up close and personal with that saw.:D

Got all sizes of wood, from 30" on down. Thats the biggest I can come up with, unfortunately. I know thats limb size wood to Chris. LOL

Sounds like Mike has a few interesting saws also. That is if he can get them old junks running.:D I'll probably try a 4000, 203, 245A, Thirty-o-six, 4200, 5200, and maybe a PP380 & a Husky 385xp, if thats allowed..:msp_smile: I know, Woodchuck asked me one time If I ever compared it to a 5200, side by side. I never have. Maybe this will be the time to try em.

Ok, the 655 is in. I "think" Chris is bringing his 6000. I'm waiting for the correct sprocket for mine to switch it over to 3/8's and use a 38" bar on it.

The 71-A isnt fixed yet but I'm working on it. I put a 404x8 sprocket on it and want to try it with the 21" roller nosed bar on it as well as the bow.

Hey!! That was my plan. Have all these Poulan experts come right to my house, and have them "fix" all my saws for me. :laugh: Only costs a few burgers & beer. What a deal. And of course the best part, thats free...The camaraderie,BS, and general good time with some of the best friends on this planet!:msp_thumbup:

According to the Poulan service bullitin you need to split the case to do it, but Chris has done his just working through the tank hole.

Do you still have the original divider?

The main thing before it is epoxied back in is that it has to be clean, clean, clean.

I dont know about the 330 "kit". I think its just a piece of rubber line. I got some rubber Echo line from edge and engine that works good for this.

I've had good luck using rubber automotive vacuum hose to replace impulse lines. Tygon is indeed totaly ubsuitable for use as impulse line.

Looks like the epoxy that once held in the missing part maybe.

Going to shake it around some more and peer in with my flashlight.

I hope Chris saved a pattern.
 
what non-poulan saws is everyone bringing? I plan on bringing, in addition to Poulans, my Dolkita as I'd like to see how it stacks up against Gregg's 385 and John's ms460. If Mike's gonna bring his 6400, I'll bring my ms361.

May just drill/tap a #6 hole in the center and use a long screw for a handle. Plug the hole with a short screw after the cement cures.

No 6400 this time Nik.
I guess you'll have to wait til next time to spank my 6400 with that hopped up 361 of yours!
The only 3 saws I'm bringing that aren't Poulans are a Super 1050 Homolite, my AK77, and a 401 Dolmar for a little guy that might show up to run.

Carl, I hope your not serious about trying to use Yamabond on that divider :msp_scared:

What were you thinking?

That divider needs to be fastend, welded, secured or however you want to describe it. Yamabond is a sealant. Use a good gas proof epoxy of your choice on it. JB Weld would be fine...

You got to be kidding me. I cant decide which Poulans to bring and your asking about non Poulans? :hmm3grin2orange:

I "might" bring my Partner P-100 super if I bring any non Poulans at all.
 
I got this weeks batch of GTG saws ready to go and loaded in the truck. Here's what I am bringing. Not one modern saw in the bunch.
