Can anyone id a countervibe saw i have from the serial number it came with a 3400 starter but it won’t work on it. It’s got thin rings. Im thinking its a 3700 not sure. Sucks cause i was looking for a 3400 to turn into a 4000 got the piston assembly and cylinder already.

Pull the muffler and measure the bore.

Thin rings could be a 3700 or 4000. Just measure like he said.

I've had 4000's come in with 3400 recoils and flywheel sets on them before. Have to replace both to work together.

4000 top and 3400 etc bottom. Need right fly for each one.

Was able to pick up a couple 505’s here, this one needs a little love. It’s running well, someone’s jb’d the oil tank at the bottom, and it’s still leaking, I’ll be chipping that away to see what’s hiding. Needs a brake band, and a clutch cover decal. Anybody have an original decal or repop? IMG_8194.jpegIMG_8193.jpeg

Just make a decal if using. I made one in green for both sides because I wanted a green 505 10 years ago.

Now days printing and decal paper make them even nice now.

I had built so many and was wanting to change things up. I was doing one in orange before I lost interest doing anymore of these.
Even did both sides with wild thing 505 too.

Orange recoil cover had sold the clutch cover that went with the saw for orange one.

Here is the decals a guy in my CR FB makes. Lives south of me. He is doing the jreds right now and then husky ones. Maybe poulan some day.

I thought about messaging the guy that does the jred decals, to see what he could do. Figured I’d ask to see if a nos one was laying around first. I could be intrested in the cases, I didn’t want to split this one for repair, but a set of seals and swap my junk over is an option. Thx

He did them for the 2083 2077 so he has the size down.

Hi folks. If I recall correctly, I read somewhere of a retrofit of sorts with the 5300271700 NLA pulley from the 2700/3000 etc., saws. Perhaps an 026/260 style with some slight modifications. I can’t say for certain, but I was comparing the two and could see that it might work. I’ve a few in that series and some that are showing stress cracks and such.

505 crankcase and crank. Big end bearing feels good, no up down play felt.

IMO I would change out the crank bearings. Been setting in the barn for years. They turn over, dont feel rough like they will when bad, but tight.

One track mind now days forgot to look for rest.

This case is SOLD. Going to take some pics of 505 445 425 case to compare against 415 475 so you know getting right cases if no tag. There is a tell tell.

You are wanting to put a 026 on a thin pulley poulan? I have seen it done on a thick pulley poulan like 365. But not on the thin ones.

You can run thick 3500 365 etc or thin 2700 2800 3000 etc covers with that flywheel.

Pic I took to show thick and thin at top and left.

Sucks cause i bought it to do a 4000 conversion but if its a 3700 or 4000 i believe its a 3700 top cover is green not black. Then im gonna throw some fuel lines and a carb kit and run it.
