I've got a 37 year old Montgomery Ward (Remington) chain saw that a collector wants to buy. I have no idea what to ask for this saw.
BTW, I cannot get it started, but I think the carburetor probably needs work on it. Other than missing a chain, the saw is complete with the manual.

What do you think I should ask for this saw?

As a general rule, unless it's super rare, or an old giant, I try to pay less than 150 for a vintage runner. If it is free turning and complete, but not running, less than 100. If it's stuck or missing pieces, no more than 50 for a parts saw. Ultimately, try to get something more, and negotiate for what your comfortable with.

Not 'till they pry my cold, dead fingers......................................

Or, untill I could replace it with a Remy PL-55 in actual Remington colors.................................

I'm not aware of any really valuable Montgomery Wards saws. It's probably not worth more than $20-$50.

Check out a Wards 820,

137cc West bend engine, any saw with a big Bender is highly collectable.

Like this one maybe.

But, this one is a different story.

Note: It has not been established for certain that the lt. blue is original paint or not. I strongly suspect it is.

Wards sold more Remingtons than actual Remington dealers sold, I think.

Those of us who look for certains makes & models rebadged for Montgomery Ward want everybody else to keep thinking that there aren't "any really valuable Montgomery Wards (sp) saws." ;)

Suz, as others have posted, a model number and/or some photos would be useful.
