I usually put a coat of primer and a coat of paint on a bar if I don't think I'll be using it for a while. If I'm going to use it in a few weeks or less I just shoot a coat of primer on it. It gets kinda humid around here and a little paint keeps the rust off.

NRA membership is mandatory, isn't it? :greenchainsaw:

It should be...they are one of the few "good" organizations that actually assist us in gun control...and I mean helping us keep our guns.

I have a little video on YouTube with the Black saw.

I usually cover mine with Rustoleum hammered. Some of the used bars I get are pretty ratty looking and I want to see where they wear when I'm using them.

It doesn't look all that professional but it covers pretty well, seems to hold up somewhat and doesn't take but a few minutes to wipe the bar with degreaser and spray it with the rattle can.

I haven't used it on a bar, but I've found the hammered paints seem to give a harder finish and hold up better than standard rattle can paints.

sandblast or sander

Is it better to sand blast a rusty old beat up bar or orbital sand it before painting it?

Not very cost effective on chainsaw bar I'm afraid, but it is an outstanding finish with superb surface hardness + great corrosion resistance !! You get what you pay for

Yeah, I had my grandfathers 1950's Wingmaster done and an old single shot bolt action .22 from my great grandmother that was all rusty. It looks awesome and is tough as nails.
