Ported 550 XP

Will a ported 550XP be equal to a 60cc saw in wood 20" or less?
I would like to hear your thoughts and experience on this. Thanks

A ported 550 won't be quite as strong as your ported 346. Stock to stock the 550 is stronger.....but ported the 346 is a little stronger.

Probably, but I'd narrow it down to 12" or so. It'll be equal to a 90cc if the wood is small enough. A bigger saw doesn't cut any faster until you get into bigger wood and start utilizing the extra available torque.

I say go for the 562xp for a true do-all.

It depends on which 60cc saw we are discussing.

In 20" hardwood they would be very close. In <15" the 550 will be faster.

A well ported 346/550/261 is an awesome tool and could serve as the primary saw for most firewooding situations.

I would say since your 346 is ported if will be faster up to say 14" to 16". When I gets to 20" or bigger the 70cc class shines. Ported of course. I know that in 20" buried wood a stock 460 was a little faster than a ported 562 when I really leaned on it.

My ported 357xp is faster than a ported 50cc saw in 20" wood, but a bout the same in 10-12" wood.

But I'd rather run a ported 346xp most of the time.
