So do you check cutter lengths to make sure they are uniform? Also wondering how you manage depth gauges....thanks.
I don't find cutter length uniformity to be very important for a good work chain. Rakers are purely by feel for me. If my chain isn't self-feeding the way I want, I take them down a little. If a chain starts pulling or chattering, I'll put more OCD into things, but I can generally put together a decent cutting chain with just my eyes for measurement
 
Wasn't it junk man or philbert who posted those videos a couple weeks ago with the guy using a small stihl cutting in his driveway? He used his shart brown ford to move the big round up the driveway. You and your Sawzall idea reminded me of his sharpening techniques. Lol. Hard to laugh that hard while shaking your head.
