I would run 18 inch or 20 at a pinch. The 52cc saws are a great all round saw that will do most things that you ask of them but they are not meant for really big wood. If it were my only saw I would run 18 inch. Because I have a 120si as well I am running a 16 inch bar on my 115i and it becomes a great saw for small stuff. Anything big I just use the 120si cause its a beast - but the 52cc only suffers in comparison to it. If it was my only saw I would be really happy with it but would run an 18 inch bar.

Ive got the poulan version of a 144, an s5500 its a brute
Well lookey what I picked up today. One of my real dream saws - very rare in Oz and in great condition. Piston and bore look perfect.

Wow that looks to be in really nice shape. Im still trying to find an airfilter for mine. Seeming to be difficult

Griffdog1: really nice found.

Boomer 87: poulan 5000 has the same airfilter as the sachs dolmar 122.

I need a filter cover and a new rear handle and the carby rebuilt and then with a 24 inch bar I should be good to go. To my eye it looks like the 152 shares the same filter cover as the 144 - can anyone confirm that?

Anyone know where I can get a crank seal for Dolmar 112?
Get on German ebay - there are a couple of sellers there that carry bits for the older Dolmars. But also check what the part number is as that is going to be common to a number of that era Dolly - it is the same engine as the 114 but I would not be surprised if the 116, 119, 120 123 etc all used the same seals (ie all the husky small bar mount chassis saws from this era.)

I'll try it thanks

Griffdog1: there are 2 types of covers. 1 with mounting bolts on each side and 1 with the mounting bolt on the back above the reare handle

Been reading a lot of favourable reviews and want to try out a 6100. Anybody think that offloading a 7300 to make room for a 6100 makes sense?
Just brainstorming here so and figured I'd throw this out to the Dolmar faithful.

I may have some of these.

What can you tell me about the PS 540? Acres site is blank on the subject. I just acquired one that is in very rough shape....probably be a great parts saw but the engine is stuck bad......fella said it was running when it locked up....never a good sign.

You can send it up to me and I will rebuild it....
