They got my easy supply of firewood shut down! I used to go to a pallet manufactuer to get wood. It was nice and easy to to load my pickup full of unusable logs and split for my use. With the economy and a few city people turned country folk they closed it down!!!

Now I have to drive 150 miles and down my own timber, buck it and load it!

i really hate city folk that come to the country and change things:chainsaw:

Been happening here for years... City slickers move to a dirt road, and want to sue the county to pave it? They always drag their garbage with them.:buttkick:

Yup,,, we get them around here from time to time and try to change things,

they usually end up moving,, guess we move too slow until planting and harvest time then we have no time to talk.

here's the front yard, why would anybody want an ass fault?

Yip, they probably sued for an injunction because of the noise. Who knows how many people lost their job from to the realtor showing houses on a Sunday while the plant was closed. The buyers perception of the area started the moment of arrival. When they moved in it was probably over a weekend. They used the reason for their injunction as "It wasn't like this when we moved in."

We no longer have Courts of Justice or even law for that matter. They have become The Courts of Eqitable Solutions" presided by jesters and charlitons that now serve the cash machine instead of the good of the people. Everything that goes through the courts is about "An Equitable Solution" and how much they have to be compensated for their 'losses' or inconvienence.

Sue the "slickers" and the realtor for compensation of your losses and have them pay to heat your home EVERY winter. Don't forget to have your lawyer include pain and suffering for your lack of recreation time now and loss of health due to lack of exercise from them removing your source of recreation.

Sorry to hear of this.

If you own your own property there really isn't any issues.
Most people just depend on other people, and things fall thru for various reasons. I bought a 30 Acre stand of Red Oak and Hard Maple for investment purposes, and for a lifetime supply of wood! The Timber alone was appraised at over $70,000 a few years ago. I really hate to, but eventually I'll have to selectively log it to keep it maintained.

Buy timber land, and you won't have any problems. :)

LOL, I often find it amusing when you have been doing your own thing, minding your own business then some-one pops up with a "problem" and you have to "settle" to some mid ground, but any settlement is a loss, and the argument can be just BS.

I remember once a customer (of previous electrical business I worked for) took us to the small claims tribunal, they alleged we did all these wrongs and wanted a reduced price etc. I was sent to represent the company.

At the tribunal I showed all the evidence that we did everything perfectly right, the files, the contract, goods etc etc. There simply was no case for this guy getting anything.

Anyway, the adjudicator asked what we were going to offer or give to "settle" the matter. I said nothing, as we did nothing wrong and if anything should be compensated for the additional work we had to do for a fraudulent and misrepresented case.

Wow, he didn't like that, said the other guy also had been inconvenienced and paid for the case etc etc etc.

So what, too bad.

But that's the mentality isn't it.

That's his loss for trying to get something for nothing. He inconvienced himself by taking it to court without just cause. Then he tried to inconvience you enough that you would just give in to get him to shut-up. If it had actually been a case of liability that involves personal damages due to negligence I can see him seeking restitution. But to try to lower the bill after the work is completed..... people like that just haven't had the correct application of "The Whooping Stick of Knowledge" applied to them. Commonly refferd to as a "Louisville Slugger".
This noun can also become a verb in the sentence "I'm a gonna "louisville slugger" his :censored: if he don't wisen up a bit."

I once worked with a guy that lived way out in the country. Fancy city folk moved out by him. One day at Trustee meeting Wife complained that neighbor wasnt cutting his yard. Everyone familiar with area scatched their heads trying to figure out which neighbor it was. Turned out it was a hayfield. Everybody had a good laugh on her.:dizzy:

I don't care who you are THAT was just plain funny................

i hate city folk that just don't have a clue..................................
worse yet is is the folks that 'think' they are going to save TONS of $$$ burning wood in thier firelplace/insert/new stove and have a couple of rick setting out back on the porch.

my neighbor burns less then half the wood i do, (about same size house) i just don't know why or how he thinks he is saving money..
we use a small oil filled space heater in the bath room and only wood heat for rest of house. don't have furnace and the elect. ceiling heat's breakers have been turned off for 5 yrs......wood is it.

i was born in the city but as country as they come when we moved to the country i fit in just fine. we had some land next to us come up for sale my freind wanted it but had to wait a month till other deal closed. so every time we saw the real estate agents car go by or someone millin around the woods i let off 30 rounds from the ak-47 they leave pretty quickly agent called me one time complainin itold to call my buddy and quit showing it . ive sent her a few deals and she found me two deals she gets quite a chuckle i offered her to shoot the ak but she just laughs and said maybe in her younger days shes 78.

We like to call them "cidiots" around here - it just has a nice ring to it and describes most perfectly. Unfortunately more and more seem to be moving to this area since land and houses are dirt cheap here due to Michigan's current economic status.

We've been getting them here and they are driving the land values through the roof. Especially the timber. People coming out of Chicago and buying a piece of timber to deer hunt on. Wooded building sites of 5 acres are averaging $11,000 per acre currently.

I'll take a few at that price. Hope we get garbage pick up, town water and sewer. Also, if any animals wake me up before 7am I'll be calling the noise control police, because those animals are considered business equipment as part of the farm and in the cities you are not allowed to make noise till after 7am. You know roosters are banned in the city dont you!

Country living

We live on 30 acres in ranch land, so enjoy the peace and quiet and don't have any issues with bureaucratic intrusion....yet anyway.

One of my favorite sayings, though, is:

One of the best parts about living in the country is you can pretty much do what you want. One of the worst parts is....so can your neighbors. :)

I would rather let people live the way they want, so long as they don't intrude on others. And I wouldn't trade country living for anything.

The last I heard was neighbors where complaining about the noise (they ran 24/7). There was nobody around them for atleast 2 miles and it was right of the interstate. I also think a little part of it was the economy turndown.

it's called Gentrification people with means move into an area drive up the cost of living through raised property values, forcing "offending" business to close thus taxes have to go up and suing for more socialist services driving taxes up again. All so "their people" with money can move in. San Francisco, parts of MT and Vermont are text book examples of this.

Grew up in a rural town, moved to the city after school, then married and back to the country on my wife's family's homestead. Nearest neighbors are all family, FIL (first place below the x), BIL (to the right of the x), and GGP farm, so nice that family own's it all so no city folk can move in on us. They run up the worth of land around here also, 5 - 40 acre tracts are expensive.

ps. we all burn wood for heat.

We have a young couple that moved here a few years ago. They were from in town. One day a couple years ago, they ask my wife and I if we would sign a petition, because they didn't like hearing the neighbor's dog bark and another neighbor's rooster crowing.

I informed them that I had no problem what so ever with those sounds and that I consider that country life. I looked the gentleman straight in the eye and told him that if he didn't like those noises move back to town.

I gave him one of those stares that let him know that I wasn't happy being ask that question.

Never spoke to him since.
