Has anyone tried this?
I found some at Wally World.
I was in a hurry and grabbed whatever mix they had on the shelf, dumb thing to do I know.......

I've been using the Poulan synthetic oil for awhile with great results. I tear down a lot of saws and after running this oil they are always clean and well oiled. I switched to Klotz not long ago, love the smell, but after tearing my ms460 down to do a pop-up I'll be going back to the Poulan oil. The Klotz leaves a plastic like deposit on the piston and in the chamber. I didn't like the looks of it at all.

I used to run the poulan synthetic with good results and for the price I've been thinking about switching back. What ratio of the poulansynthetic do you run mastermind?

That's good to know about the Poulan mix. The other day a friend used my 6400 and I made him take my mix with the Stihl 50:1 instead of using his, the Poulan 40:1. Never would have done that if I had read this thread first. If Randy (Mastermind) uses it in his, that's good enough for me.

I used it this weekend in the old 041 and it seemed to run like a champ.
I think I will buy some more.
I took a trip to Dixon, KY to my boss' property and cut some walnut, hickory and poplar.
It was a very hot day Saturday and a 4 + hour drive made it fun.
Luckily I picked up a good load of wood and spent quality time with my dad.

Thanks for the info! Thats what I run my mix at also.

I'm a bit cautious with my mix ratio. I have a fuel jug that holds a few ounces more than a gallon, I use the recommended amount for 40:1 but have a bit more fuel than a gallon so it's really 42:1 or so. The saws I cut with regularly are all ported with pop-up pistons so a bit more oil is welcome though I'm not sure it's necessary.

Like jimdad07 said if you use Poulan Synthetic it's good enough for me.

I've been using Amsoil for awhile but the Poulan is half the price. I've been looking at the PS for awhile and the GBio Synthetic. I wonder about that stuff too! Much thanks for the input.

I've been using stihl ultra at 40:1 and that shi! gets costly!!! I recently bought 12 bottles of woodland pro full synthetic and have used maybe 5 gallons worth through my saws and it has my plugs looking ALOT darker and they seem to smoke alot more even after adjusting them a bit. I think when the WP is gone I'm going back to the poulan synthetic.

Does anyone know who makes the poulan synthetic?

O.K. just downloaded info on Spectrum Lubricants Corp. Read their stuff. With Masterminds endorsement and what I read I'm going to Wally World and get some Poulan Synthetics. Was already on the fence anyway. Much thanks guys!!

I googled Walmart and didn't find it in their computer system.

So what size jugs are available...and at what cost for these..??
(Amsoil is $10 a quart...Poulan synthetic is "half the price"...??)
$5 a quart sounds un-realistic...
So what does it sell for where you have it available..??

Just remember that a lot of these companies that sell 2 cycle mixes buy base oils, additives and other chemicals from their suppliers and then mix them according to their own technology / recipe. Their product is then branded and purchased by the saw companies for sale at their retail outlets. The 2 cycle oil suppliers can change, but the branding (saw company, ie: Poulan/Huskvarna) remain the same, maybe the bottle looks a little different. The best way to find out what is in the bottle and who the supplier is, is to look up the MSDS. You can always call with the information from the bottle (lot number, part number, etc), and by law they must provide you with a current MSDS.

Stand corrected

you know I stand corrected. Just went to Wally World. Walked by the other day and saw a $5.97 price tag and didn'tbother to look at amount. Plus I was stretching the truth a lttle when I said half the amount. It's $5.97 for 19.6 oz. for the Poulan Synthetic. I can't get a qt. of Amsoil for $10( wish I could) but still these figures change the situation some. Still bought the PS anyway to try. It's still closer for me to get. But would still like giving my $ to the private guy! Thank you for taking the time to straighten me out!

I certainly wasn't trying to "straighten you out"...just requesting price and size jug..!!
Just checked Amsoil and quart is now $10.75 a quart...I use it in my cheapo Poulans.
If my math is right..that is $9.75 per quart in ounces...a good deal..!!!

Thanks for replying to my question..!!

What do you use in your other saws? I feel now at least if I have to I can use the PS. Also where do you get your Amsoil? Thanks.
