Just picked up a husky 435 refurb from vminnovations for $142 out the door (coupon code=facebook will save about $7.50). Haven't run it yet. Wanted the lightest decent limbing saw I could find without spending a wad.

I really like my Makita 6401, but it gets heavy sometimes.

Hopefully that 2 saw plan will keep me covered for a while...I'm no arborist, just have a little acreage.

It should work for you. Just keep it tuned correctly. I have an old cheapest at the time 137, still keeps chugging! Ran it a *bunch*, too. Light is nice! Guys will rag on "homeowner" saws, but really, they'll work just fine with proper maintenance.

for what i use my 435 for, it works very well, like it alot, you should be happy with youre's as well:msp_sneaky:

Invest in the special tool for the mixture screws, or remove them and slot them with a fine dremel cutting wheel so you can turn them with small screwdriver.

I had a 435 in the line-up for a while, bought it new in the box. It had good power for the cc's, but I found myself not using it that much. It gave me troubles in hot/humid weather a couple of times, went into some sort of "vapor lock" condition.

Otherwise no problems with it anyplace. The factory tune was pretty close on it, unlike some of the newer saws we've bought or had brought in here to service. I still like adding some fuel to keep the RPM's down at no load, and to make sure they are making best power in the cut. I found that if the 435 was given a lean "H" speed setting, it revved fantastic but dropped out of the good power quite easily. I ran it just a tad "rich" which broadened up the power curve some, and kept it from stalling against the clutch as often......Cliff

I got a chance to run it last Sunday. I had about 6 tops to limb...I sure do like the weight of this saw!

Only problem so far is that after a cut at WOT, when you let off the throttle, it dies. It will idle in general, but after WOT, it dies and you have to blip the throttle. Well, it also sounds a little fat on top at WOT. I didn't turn up the idle yet to try and fix the first issue, but I have a carb tool on the way. I'm going to try to turn up the idle a bit first, then see of the L jet needs more/less.

I think after I get it dialed in, it'll be in my hand more than I thought...did I mention I love the weight. My 6401 is an anchor compared to this thing...which shouldn't be surprising I know. I've thought about the 7900 or BB kit for it to make me "like" the weight more, but I really don't think I need it...and I can't see doing the swap for a saw that runs perfectly and does what I need.

Ran my friends 435 Husqvarna cutting up about 4 truck loads of what we call up here " pecker wood" this afternoon. Was extremely impressed with the saw. Granted the mostly all oak was between 6 and 10"s, but for such a light weight it has amazing power. Love the sound of it too. Made fast work of a really good pile of oak ( red and pin) with no problem. Quite impressive and was glad this thr ead was here to brag about this little baby. If all these new Husky's are as good , their future should be O. K!! Wonder if the P/C in this saw is the same as is in my wifes new Wild Thing?

Thanks for the heads up, even the coupon worked. My order is in process.

I've been wanting a 435 for several months but the $270 + tax held me back. The 435 is the lightest rear handle that Husky makes.

Do you know the head type for the carb tool? I have a lot of small bits like Torx, etc. I may already have the tool.

Rep coming your way.

It's a splined shaft...it does indeed require a special tool...I think some folks have managed to make one, but I got one off amazon for 10 bucks.
Part number 530035560

I got mine today but haven't tuned the saw yet...but the tool does fit!

Glad you got one.

PS - I posted this reply once, but it went to a moderator because I included a link to amazon...just search for the part number on amazon and it should come up.

In case the facebook code doesn't work, I just found one online at $140 ( Newegg.com - HUSQVARNA 435 16" 41cc Gas Powered Chain Saw Chainsaw - Manufacturer Refurbished ). That's a serious bargain! Especially compared to my first saw, a 235e @ $200 from Lowes.

I'm going to have to get one (or a couple!) of these. Even compared to the 445's & 450's, they are a bargain. I'm thinking of keeping one set up with a 16" narrow-kerf for limbing & small bucking (before I have to move up to the MS361) and one with a 12" or 14" bar for up in the tree.

bars for $6

Also, Bailey's has 16" narrow kerf unbranded carlton bars for $6 right now. I grabbed 2 and a 20nk woodland pro chain for mine for $34.05 total (inc shipping). Also, if you order those items from Bailey's through amazon, you can save a few dollars on shipping (about $5 or so I think). I have no idea why shipping is less if ordered through amazon than from Bailey's directly...but I am not complaining. :)

Different P/C. Similar persay in design/setup, but different.

435R Where/When Made?

Got my 435R yesterday, except for some minor cosmetic nicks looks great. The air filter seems new, as is the B&C. Chain made in Canada. The saw was made in Sweden in 2008 according to the serial number. Which begs the question, where has this guy been for the last 4-years?

What mfg dates have others seen?

Mine says 2011 Sweden. Mine came with a Husky H30 chain. Although I guess it was from a reel or something because there were 2 sequential cutters on the same side.

Mine also had a nick or two in the paint...very minor.

Thanks for the tip..I just picked one up with a pair of chains through Amazon for my soon-to-arrive Husky 435:msp_thumbup:

Do any of the 435R's have a fuel tank viewer, my 2008 model does not? Can't say it matters.

Can you use your finger to release the top cover latches? Mine are so stiff I have to use the bar wrench screwdriver to flick them open. Still beats the 3 screws on my 455.

I defeated the throttle interlock, see this post: http://www.arboristsite.com/chainsaw/145080.htm#post3450218

Just picked up one of these too (with a couple chains). Oh, and I had to get a Husk 435 to go with it! I have some bars that cost more alone than whet they're selling those 435's for.

I found that in tuning these Poulan Pro 4218's (probably about the same saw I would guess) that they were doing the same thing after I had tuned them in my normal way.

The problem was that I had them too rich on the low side. They didnt want to tune like normal by backing out till they stumble and need to be turned in instead to the point of stumbleing then back out just enough to smooth them out.

That fixed the dying problem after a cut.
