Hey guys, looking at a used 044 and was wondering if it is new enough to have the 12mm wrist pin for the baileys big bore kit. It is older, I just don't know how old.

Serial # 119823924 It is an 044, but doesn't have any other badging like magnum or anything on it???!!!

Thanks

Steve

so do the old 046's have the same size wrist pin as an old 044? Or is there any hope for a BB kit in this one?

Andy, could you tell me how to tell what year the saw is based on the serial ##

Thanks
Steve

Hard to be exact, but looks like mid 1989, one of the very early production version.

Also to add to this ancient thread, a SN starting with a 1 means it was made in Germany. Though I do not know of any 044s made anywhere else. Also Stihl does not track when saws are made, at least in dealer searches. They track when the saw was first sold, and where by the SN.
