How many pulls for a normal chainsaw?

One pull hot that’s acceptable, probably three pulls cold. I keep my saws tuned so they start one pull hot because we never know what’s in the woods when we’re alone that’s another post.

Are we still talking about saws?

On a saw like that, 50 pulls. I would get my little squirt bottle of premix out and give the carb a few squirts and save time,wear and tear on the starter along with my arms.

I bought a refurb Husky 450 and dreaded having to start it. It is my first saw It took countless pulls. I thought it was me doing something wrong. Eventually I clogged the carb with ethanol after letting it sit. After hearing what the dealer wanted, to fix it, I took the carb apart, cleaned it with Gumout, switched to premix, ethanol free gas and now it starts in 2 or 3 pulls.

I've got 6 Stihl variations of O P E. They all start differently. I've been known to confuse the starting process among them.
