Prob exhaust leak. Bolts loosen.

Its a husky after all.

This would make sense.
I pulled of the exhaust and bolts were... Mildly put, easy to unscrew.
Mind you the saw has been sitting still for years. According to seller.

I’ve seen it as well, but most I’ve seen had not.

A little heat tape under the cover is cheap insurance.

Great saw, even better ported.

If the top cover isn't melted on a Husky of this generation, it hasn't been ran hard. Even my cream puff 262 has some melting, and that saw is CLEAN.
I remember one of Dad's 254's having bubbles in the front edge of the cover...

That melting is very bad news, I would sell it to me for $120 and make 150% on sale. Every 257,261,262 I have owned had that or worse. Do you take paypal?

On serious side. No decompression, is it have a KS cylinder with an 87 or 120 carb?

It should have a KS cylinder and an 87. Its a 92.

93 is the year they went to a 120. If anybodys been in there however, anythings possible. Maybe if its a late year 92 it may or may not have an 87 with the changeover

I looked at the pics again and I think the cylinder has a black dot on top of it, which would indicate it is likely a KS cylinder - so maybe it also has the HDA87 carb and I will be completely wrong rather than just half wrong lol.

Lol. It really doesnt matter I guess unless it ported. But I've seen some strong runners out of a 120

Heated handles works perfectly, starts up easy.

All I got left is sharpening the chain that came with it!
