No, not necessarily. I'm sure he'll never use it but just put it on the shelf with all his other Ford toys, signs, boxes, and assorted junk. He's a collector, not a user. Nicer looking is more important than running.
Thanks again! This buddy of mine has a buzz-saw I want, won't sell it to me but told me to find him a Ford chainsaw.
If you want to give the guy my contact info, you can do that too. Whatever is easiest for you. I can even PM you my phone number here at work.
A buddy of mine is a big Ford truck and tractor and all things "FORD" collector. One thing he's missing is a Ford chainsaw. Anyone have one they'd like to part with or know where one could be found?
Running gear is what a hay wagon sits on. You may not see what is in the pictures at a farm sale but you may see hay wagons. Look underneath and there you go.
By the way, you can tell a real farmer by his ability to back up a hay wagon.
Just read this thread and I think I have your answer. The mulch beds are what gave it away to me.
Your neighbor as "artillery fungus" coming from the mulch beds. Very common around New England. If you look around you'll see she's starting to get these spots on the side of her house and other...
I bought one of those a few weeks ago but haven't bothered to put it on. After my first two cuts I don't usually bother to clamp the log anymore. Once it's sitting on a flat face I don't have a problem with them moving. I'm in the middle of sawing 4000bf of 1"x12" white pine and even down to...
I halved a 30" truck of oak yesterday. It had a natural crack in it so I rolled the log with the crack vertical and went at it. Used a Stihl 460 with a 28" bar and dug as deep as I could from the top and the rolled the log over and split the rest from the other side. Funny how much pressure...
Nice tractor. I had a Satoh S-650G for years. Mostly I just ran a 6-foot finishing mower on it and cut the grass. Is your 4wd? Looks like it might have power steering on it too?
Good pile of logs you have going there. Get 'em sawed up!
Yeah, I've spent some time playing with old Land Rovers. Restored my first one about 12 years ago. Did the second two years ago.
Here's the first one on Mosquito Pass in Colorado back in 2000. It's a 1974 88".
Here's the second on before and after. It's a 1967 109".
I like it. I'm all new at this sawmill stuff but I'm having fun. I have enough projects to do around the house over the next year that it will pay for itself and I have a whole bunch of white pine timber so why not start a new hobby!
The Norwood Mill was simple to build and set up and...
Spent Saturday milling up some white pine logs I had stacked up a few weeks ago. A few test cuts to figure out speed and blade tension and I was doing pretty well.
Well, just in from sawing. Cut 620bf today. Not bad for a newbee. The first few were a little wavy until I got the blade tension correct. From there it was pretty simple. I'll upload some photos when I get a chance.
Thanks! Yes, we're blessed for sure. We have 11 acres that supplies us with enough firewood to heat the house and enough venison to feed the family. It's a pretty spot. We own 900 feet on the Housatonic River including a little island that has some HUGE first-growth hemlock, white pine and...
