    bar swap question(s)

I have a 576xp with 20" and 24" bars. I *think* the bars are .050" 3/8". I want to upsize to a 395xp. The 395 has a 3/8 chain but does it care what the guage is? Is that just a bar thing? I want to sell my 576 but keep atleast my 20" bar for the 395 and buy the 395 with a 28 or 32 but if those...

    Which file guide?

I have been watching vids and reading on sharpening chains. It's probably time I get somewhat serious with chain sharpening. There's probably other threads on this but let me eliminate some of the options first. 1) No electric. I want a hand guide that doesn't need a 12V battery setup, 12V PSU...

    Bar fit question

I bought used 576xp a couple months ago. It came with a 24" bar. I'm thinking about selling it and getting a 395. I also have a 20" bar for the 576. Can I keep my bars and use them on a 395 or do I need to sell the bars with the 576 and get bars that fit the 395?

Poulan Pro 18" to 16" conversion

My neighbor GAVE me a 42cc 18" poulan pro. I know its not an exceptional saw but it looks like its in fine shape but I would like a 16" bar on it rather than an 18". Can I just find a 16" poulan bar? Do I havento change the sprocket because the pitch might be different?

    Want to Buy 192t CYLINDER

I have a 192t that was used in a haunted house without a chain on it. (for obvious reasons) but why on earth you would use a $300 Stihl for that is beyond me. They could have used a $50 Poulan. Anyway, the clutch exploded and damaged the cylinder where the muffler bolts to the port. It doesn't...

    "helpmewhatsaw?" thread...

I'm looking to replace my 30cc Poulan with a better saw with a 16" bar. My gf has a Husky 435 and I love that saw. What other saws are in the 30cc class THAT THEY MAKE A WRAP AROUND HANDLE FOR? Reason I ask is because I know a saw that small is normally not used as a felling saw but thats what...

    TEST BURN

I have an old Fisher Mama Bear. I added a simple baffle. The stove works good and gets scary hot. It doesn't smoke. Burns clean. I got it on CL for $150. Good score. Its in the basement. I cut off the rear exhaust port and put a plate on it and cut a hole in the top so I could have top flu...

    Scrap wood

So its the "norm" to not burn pine but what about good, clean, kiln-dried 2x4's? I know a sappy ass pine tree would be a no no but what about the good clean stuff? Had anybody ever burned strictly pine for a whole burning season then compared the amount of deposits compared to "good" hardwoods...

    25" Bucking saw

I'm going to change around my saw arsenal shortly. Right now I have a poulan 3314 and a craftsman 2050. The little poulan is too heavy for a limber saw and too small for a bucking saw for 20"+ logs. The Craftsman. Is well...a craftsman. I'm going to get some sort of top handle saw for all the...
