    Keep the chain brake on.After having a saw kickback and hit me in the head I swear by chainbrakes if it weren't for chainbrakes I'd have a nice scar across my face instead of a small nick above my eyebrow.I only disabled one brake and that was because I was coverting a chain saw to a concrete saw.

    or better yet don't plant any trees under power lines.I remove enough of them from peoples yards to know that all line clearance does is hack them to bits until td day.

    Same here.In my area its water oak mostly which all they do is suck up water until they break from thier own weight.

    You can buy just the piston and rings but make sure you buy gaskets as well.You didn't notice a decrease in compression and your absoluty certain you have spark.can you post a pic of the scores in the piston?It sounds like a piston and rings will do it though.

    Okay what shape is the carb boot in?I also recomend checking and maybe replacing the fuel line it might have a pin hole in it.

    I know you swapped carbs and it passed a vacuum test butt try rebuilding the carb and check the gasket behind the carb try replacing that as well.
