    Pebbles in muffler-3120

Some time ago I bought a used Husky 3120. I was low on sleep and didn't check it out as well as I might normally. I got it home and found the muffler was loose. I removed the muffler and found it had a rattle in it when shook. I tipped it and 6 to 8 small pebbles came out. They ranged in from bb...

Bar length for chainsaw mill 52' or 60' ?

I have been alaska milling with a 36' bar and now have collected a number of logs that are too wide to mill with that bar. I am considering what length bar to get. Most of what I mill and will mill would fit ok with a 48' bar. There would be some logs that would need a longer bar. Question...

    Ripsaw-considering buying one-question

I have a line on a ripsaw chainsaw powered portable bandsaw mill that I may buy. The manufacturer has gone out of business, so accessing new parts is not possible. How likely am I to need new parts? What does wear out on these? What do I need to watch for, wear wise, in accessing the ripsaw...

    52" bar or 60" bar

I have been alaska milling with a 36" bar and have some bigger trees coming along soon. Do I want to get a 60" bar or a 52" bar? Cost is relatively similar. I will be running the bar on a 3120. I am leaning towards the 60" Thoughts or advice?

    How dry is dry enough

I have some spruce slabs that I milled a few months ago. They were stickered and left to sit. I had to move them off the property where they were milled today and they were a lot lighter :) I moisture tested them and the reading from the most central location with the probes pushed all the way...

Lumbermate 2000 vs Woodland Mills Hm 130

I am now considering a bandsaw mill. For some time I have been thinking I would get a woodland mills hm130 but came across the chance to buy a nearly new lumbermate 2000 for about the same amount of dollars. I watched video of both units operating and the Lumbermate operator seemed to be able...

Husqvarna 61 erratic restarting after running

Husqvarna 61 I bought it used a few months ago from the original owner who was selling it to get a saw that started better. It smoked when I got it and once it had good gas in it that stopped. It starts easily when cold. Once it has run hard and shut off then it takes multiple pulls and tends...

Best way to edge individual live edge boards on one side.

Milling some salvaged cedar resulting in boards that are 6-12 inches wide where the customer wants the edge removed on one side. They are cut 2 inches thick. The side that is removed is likely to be the hidden side when the board is used for a shelf, but it seems to make sense to leave as...

how to alaska mill to get usable first and last boards?

I am milling some smaller reclaimed cedar logs (9-12 inches) with a granberg alaska mill. I have been setting the first cut to take off about 2.5 inches to give me a flat surface for the second cut. I am milling 2 inch thick boards. Once done with a log I am left with the top first slice...

removing muffler bolts on Husqvarna 61

The two bolts that hold the muffler to the cylinder on a 61, what tool do I need to remove them? I tried the same hex key that took off the bolts holding the muffler support bolts but it didn;t seem to catch on anything. I looked on line and there was a video with a guy taking bolts out with a...

Modify bar to fit 050-090 series saws?

straight gas seizure in big cc saw

I had a deal to buy a 3120. Turns out it was straight gassed by a staff member and seized solid. This was only discovered when the owner went to check it out in advance of our meeting. Likely hood of damage beyond just needing a new cylinder and piston? What else might it need?
