Questions just posed to Stihl regarding their 2N1 sharpening system

Here is Stihl's answer: The pitch of the Picco chain on your 021 is a 3/8”P. Unfortunately, the 2-N-1 file guide you purchased will not work with either of the chains on your MS 310 or the 021. The 2-N-1 files are designed for a specific pitch. Therefore, the round files in them are not...

Questions just posed to Stihl regarding their 2N1 sharpening system

Awesome, thanks. I've attached the relevant section. The way I view it, I have to order a whole new 2N1 kit for each pitch, and they don't sell replacement files for the 2N1. OR, I just buy their "regular files" from p213. But, then, on p213, I don't see any Picco files listed. Further, is...

Questions just posed to Stihl regarding their 2N1 sharpening system

I just submitted the following question to stihlusa.com, and I figured some of y'all may want to see it and maybe take a stab. I will post their official response when I get it. --- I have about seven Stihl saws, 441C, a 310 and an 021 among others. My question is about my 310 and 021. My...

Struggling to match clutch sprocket, nose sprocket, bar, chain, sharpener... please help

Given the above conversation regarding me unintentionally converting my Stihl 310 to 3/8 pitch clutch sprocket, which of these Oregon combos do y'all recommend as my next bar+chain a. Part 580123 which is an 050 bar with a standard chain (not low kickback) or b. Part 580122 whichis an 063 bar...

Please help me read my bar

Thank y'all for your answers. I now understand that Picca on a Stihl bar means a 3/8 pitch but a Picca chain. Questions: 1. Does that mean I can use a Stihl 3/8 2n1 sharpener on this Picca chain just like a "regular 3/8"? 2. Can I run a regular 3/8 chain in the right length on this Stihl bar...

Struggling to match clutch sprocket, nose sprocket, bar, chain, sharpener... please help

Do you know if those Stihl sharpeners allow for you to swap out 3/8 and .325 guides and files?

Struggling to match clutch sprocket, nose sprocket, bar, chain, sharpener... please help

Ugh, so stupid of me. I guess the ideal thing - assuming I just have two saws - is to have matching pitch on both saws so I can use just one sharpener!

Struggling to match clutch sprocket, nose sprocket, bar, chain, sharpener... please help

Oh, yeah, Oregon told me that, for my 3/8 pitch drum sprocket on my 310, I need either a. Part 580123 which is an 050 bar with a standard chain (not low kickback) or b. Part 580122 whichis an 063 bar with a standard chain (not low kickback) I realize there are better bars, but I want to get...

Struggling to match clutch sprocket, nose sprocket, bar, chain, sharpener... please help

Man, chainsaws are so much more complicated than I thought. I bought a Stihl 310 a while back. I have no clue what bar, chain, or sprockets were on it. I recently replaced the clutch sprocket with this...

Stihl 441C upgrade question; 20" bar dead?

Man, y'all all helped me alot, and, holeycow, you nailed what I did: 1. I ran the chain tight because I thought I was supposed to do that. 2. My oiler was plugged because I didn't know the mechanism by which a bar got oiled. Never underestimate my ignorance!!!

Stihl 441C upgrade question; 20" bar dead?

Dang, y'all respond fast. OK, I need a new bar for my stock 310. I have only ever bought Stihl chains, and I have a few. So, I plan on buying a bar that works with those chains. If you ask me specs on the chains, I will say, "I don't know. I bought what the guy handed me, and they have fit...

Stihl 441C upgrade question; 20" bar dead?

Man those were great responses. I don't get the inside joke about MAGNUM stickers, but oh well. Thanks particularly to ericm979 and BangBang77. Here's what I decided based on what y'all said. 1. Selling one saw to focus on another is not an option but understandable 2. Keeping the 20" and...

Stihl 441C upgrade question; 20" bar dead?

Two questions 1. I have a Stihl MS 441C with a 20" bar. I'd like to upgrade it pretty substantially. From my reading here, it seems like the best things to do are a. Drill muffler b. Re-tune carb c. Add high flow oiler or else mod oiler to flow better d. Upgrade dogs e. Buy a 25 or 28" bar...
