I am working on an 028 just like that one except I have the metal tank and 42mm piston. Mufflers are identical. Just ordered a new set of Caber rings for it. Also have a 44mm and 46mm 028 in the garage.

They were new from Northwood Saw as they were listed for a 028 and now I see they are not. I also got the rear and that one went in great. I used a rubber safe oil so that is not a worry.

I have tried oiling them, even chamfered the rubber a bit with a razor. Also tried a c-clamp with some steel flats to try pressing them in. They seem to be just a tad too large in diameter.

How in the heck do you install the 2 front lower buffers? I am rebuilding a 028S and replaced all the mounts, errr well tried. Ken
