From my limited experience squish is specific to each saw. Ive yet to do 2 that are exactly the same.

I just built an 044 and did base gasket delete. Before delete the squish was .031".

After removing the gasket it was .021"-020" which was perfect.

It takes all of a minute to cut a quick gasket out of a paper bag or a piece of printer paper that is .010 thick or less. The purpose of the gasket is to space the cylinder and eliminate leaks. Just blobbing rtv around the base can leak especially over many heat cycles. Just my opinion and the way I was taught. Last thing I would want to do is have an air leak at the cyl base. I just got done paying for the machine work.
