Cuckoos, Cowbirds, and nest borrowers

We have been watching birds lately. Most fascinating is what we have learned about cuckoos, Cowbirds, and those that lay their eggs, in other's nests, often destroying one of the legitimate eggs, so their own can be dominate.
Often, these illegitimate birds offspring hatch first, and destroy the whole batch of legitimate babies.
Fascinating.

Yeah nature can be unsympathetic for the sake of survival.
I'm surprised every spring to see how greedy hummingbirds are, sometimes even killing one another to claim a feeder.
