You would be well pleased with the 461,it will handle the wood you mentioned with ease. There's no reason to wait for the 462 unless you have some fascination with the m-tronic. Good luck with your choice.
I'm intrigued by the Dolmar suggestion! A few hundred cheaper and just as powerful.I agree! If you want a saw with more power, forget about the 572xp and the MS-462, and just get the Dolmar (Makita) 7910. You won’t regret it.
Yes. That is the one... they are great saws.I'm intrigued by the Dolmar suggestion! A few hundred cheaper and just as powerful.
Which Dolmar does this Mikata ea7900prz correspond to? Dolmar 7900 I assume?

Hmm really? So many people say go 461 over 661 because of the weight. But the 461R adds 1.1 lbs bringing the 461 to within 0.6 of the 661!Definitely get the R model of whichever saw you choose, the upgrades over the standard model are worth the extra cost.

Also the R adds 1.1 to the 461 but only 0.5 to the 661. Is this because the 661 already has a high output oiler?
Interesting you say that given that you have a 441, which I'm also considering. How do you like yours? Knowing what you do now, would you buy it again? If it were my money I'd either wait for the 462, which could be a few months or a year plus, no one knows, or swing for the fences and get a 661. You'll have an M-Tronic saw and you'll never long for more power. Best of luck with your decision!

Those big saws end up sitting around at my place 70ish cc is one you can use for anything really. Any good saw will do. Stihl husky. Each their own
Is there still an R model? All I see is the 441 C-M magnum.I purchased the R model specifically for the R upgrades, most notably the HO oiler since I needed to run a 25-28" B&C for the job at hand.

The HO oiler does not add significant weight. It's the same pump body with a slightly modified piston and adjuster to allow more piston travel. Also the R adds 1.1 to the 461 but only 0.5 to the 661. Is this because the 661 already has a high output oiler?
