The saw stock....

Real clean low hour saw here. The owner sent a different coil and carb so first I'll just swap these out and see how much difference that makes.

I probably should try to find some time to study up on these big beasts, but I don't see too many so I don't see the need.

Now that's a big carburetor!!!!

Nothing really different here.....it's like a big 066 and stuff. :D

It is a little different here at the muffler......no bolts just the wire retainer.

Here's the saw after the coil and carb swap.....I sharpened the chain and set the rakers too. The chain does not do this saw any justice. I would much rather see a 3/8 full comp rather than this .404 skip.

And some pics of the stock jug.....well the squish band is already cut.

The carb you took off the saw should be fully adjustable and unlimited as well. There was a rumor at one time that the carb was limited, but I found that it was not, so no need to replace the carb. All that's needed is the 088 coil.

Here's the saw after the port work. It's strong enough that it's pulling a 41 bar with a .404 8 pin. That's almost as big a gear as a 9 pin in 3/8. I do think a 3/8 chain and a 9 pin would be a better combo though.

That's what I thought Brad. Chuck sent the carb so........

Very interesting to watch the gain after each step. The last video tells the whole story. If ya have one of those beast, ya have to port it to see it at it's best.

My 084 was VERY disappointing stock. An 880 is no better. They are very detuned from the factory.

From the first video, it remained pretty consistant in the cut, just not jaw dropping impressive. Each video got better though, and I thought the last one was pretty impressive.

I still do not like the chain. It cuts a little to the right.....and to be honest I don't have a lot of free time to spend working it over. I would swap the bar tip and go with 3/8 pitch anyway.

What's a finger port? :msp_mellow:
