Cut it off flush near the edge of the cover and fill with jb.
Then drill an 1/8 hole in it.

What about swapping out the compensator cover for another cover and drilling the 1/8" hole. That'll prolly work as well, right?

Define a kit. Due to the HK using a plastic module with an integral needle seat , its the module that has to be replaced, that does not come in a rebuild kit. The costs involved make it not worth fixing them, much easier and cheaper to just replace them and get away frm the problematic module carb.

Lots of non-compensator Zama carbs out there too.

The Zama C3A-S19 makes a good carb for replacement among others I have used the C3A-S38B.

Yes you can, a normal flat cover should already have the hole in it.

Wll,, thanks to scallywag I found that plastic metering plate I was needing for the Tillotson HK43A...Replaced it and same thing happens...Runs for a few seconds then backfires and dies...gona have to get a new carb.

Did you change the spark plug ? Believe it or not I have seen this many times where a plug will cause a backfire, don`t know why but it does happen.
