I whipped up this toolbox for my saws a couple years ago after dealing with the regular tool boxes that had handles through holes in the top that let water in them. It is a "Sportsman's Dry Box", basically a fancy plastic GI ammo can. Bright orange so it's easier to spot, and harder to accidentally run over.

In the bottom, I made a divider so I could keep sharp chains on one side, dull on the other, and some extra 2-stroke oil and bigger stuff in the middle. Wedges also go here, but they are in the tractor toolbox right now.

The small tray on top holds most of the tools needed for maintenance/ minor repairs of my saws. Contents: Reg and Phillips screwdrivers - normal sized and little fellows, pliers, scrench, small vise grip, Gerber Multi-plier, files, 3/8 metric sockets, extra ear plugs, and a metric wrench set. Except the Multi-plier, pretty much all cheap stuff I wouldn't shed a tear over if I dropped it in a snowbank and couldn't find it.

It's a tight squeeze to get everything in, and honestly the wrenches and sockets could be left out, except for the 17mm wrench for the bar nuts on the 271 that the scrench doesn't fit. Note that the scrench has to be tucked under the handle cutout to fit.

Anyone else got a cool way of keeping your saw stuff together? I'd like to make something to organize chains by saw, but that takes a lot of space, and I like having something handy sized like this.

Wow, Steve kudos to you:clap:
That is one nice set up! You really put some thought into that.
My saw box is the top, right end of my truck box with a Stihl tool, two spark plugs, a hatchet and a small screw driver for setting the mixture's. Oh yea, some rags! I really need to re think this and come up with an outfit like yours, geez, with the first aid kit and tool box, I should be set.

Mine is very similar to yours. I include a bar greaser and paint marker, and my sockets stay in the truck. I still use the 2.99 plastic toolbox though. Your setup looks pretty handy. Never even thought of it! Funny thing is, I have a box a lot like that for my muzzleloader stuff!:greenchainsaw:

Good idea! I've got an old plastic tackle box that I keep fittings for my air compressor in. Being that I use my saw tools more than my air compressor I think I'll change it over today after I finish working. I keep my chains hung on nails in the shop. If I need to bring an extra chain for stumps or something I just throw in the the tool box on the truck.

I keep my muzzleloader stuff in a small bucket with a lid. :D

I use a kitty litter box, it has a snap on lid to keep out the rain. In it I have every thing, rags, new chains (sm,med), files in a old water bottle, gages, clean out tool, wrenches for all saws, favorite screw driver (kids never find it), qrt. of AMS oil mix, plugs. It all fits nice and you can find one on recycling day. Then I store it in the back of the 200+ bandit.

I use a gatemouth bag and have it full of most everything you have in yours. I need to get a first aid kit.

The brush is a good idea. The only thing I see you missing are wedges.

Mine is the back seat in my old Ford Rangerf wod hauler truck. I keep hatchet, maul, wedges, log chains, tools, all sorts of crap back there. Extra chains go in the glove box to prevent damage.

200 foot cable just gets left in the back of the truck or I leave it hanging in a tree in the woods.

I have thought about cutting a hole in the side of the x-cab and making a big pull out drawer for all this stuff but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Mis en plase: or something like that. Everything has its place, the wedges are in the side box with the saws, under lock and key. I bolted a dump truck box 4' on the fender of the chipper. $60.00 at a scrap yard, 2 cans of spray paint.

Do you guys think we should tell these guys that there are preloaded shells made today? LOL :greenchainsaw:

I have a similar setup. I use an old plastic toolbox but have issues with water getting in. I think I am gonna switch to my drybox as I have one just like that not being used. I keep everything saw related in my saw box just cause its always with me if I have my saws with me I throw it in the truck with them.

I know! But I still prefer the muzzleloader. Actually, I'd rather shoot my bow when I'm deer hunting!

Do any of you who carry these boxes try to protect your files? I cut a piece of shrink wrap to length and slide it on the file so the files don't rub together when in the tool box.
